<p>Medium sized Public High School in Boston suburb (only really competitive in top 5%-usually one or two Ivies from each graduating class)
GPA W: 4.82
GPA UW: 4.0
Rank: 1/229</p>

<p>Tests:
SAT I: 680 CR 710 M 750 W = 2140 (retaking once more tomorrow)
SAT II: 720 US History, 710 Math II, 660 Literature
ACT: 31, but most likely will not send
AP's: US History-5, Eng. Comp.-5, AB Calc-3</p>

<p>Senior Schedule: Band + 6 AP's (Latin Virgil, French, BC Calc, Physics, English Literature, Psychology)</p>

<p>EC's:
3 years varsity golf
4 years varsity tennis
2 years marching band (percussion)
2 years concert band (brass) and symphony orchestra (percussion)
4 years French Club (treasurer sophomore year, president senior year)
4 years Latin Club (vice president senior year)
Founder and president of International Club (participates in cultural meetings and celebrations as well as relief efforts and fundraisers) (2 years)

<p>Work:
3 summers (200+ hours community service) interning for the mayor of my city (Boston suburb of 28,000 people-did clerical work as well as special projects including a local historic sites website, wildlife guide, recycling program, and pedestrian safety program)</p>

<p>Currently working 10 hours a week as a mentor at an after school enrichment program</p>

Superintendent's Academic Excellence Award
National French Contest Chapter Winner (3 times)
Brown Book Award Winner (earned for writing)
Finished Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Year with Excellence (all A's)
Abigail Adams Scholarship

<p>Recommendations: from guidance counselor, Latin and English teachers junior year, mayor of my city</p>

<p>Essay: so far I've got gotten positive feedback from family and peers. essay ends with a twist and main themes are humor and modesty</p>

<p>all your schools u are in except for princeton, brown and maybe dartmouth, all of which u still have a shot. Im sure u know that thousands of students as qualified as u get rejected from the ivies, but i assure u all the others u are for sure in. seeing as your from mass. could u chance me on a few lacs?</p>

<p>Thanks jpr, and as for you I think you have a great chance at your top two. Presumably, you are applying to more than just those two, but I’d say just make sure you have some safeties, although it seems that in all likelihood you probably won’t have to consider them =]</p>

<p>good luck on the SAT’s tomorrow. this can raise your chances on the ivy’s!! but if you don’t do well, no biggie. you will still go to a great college!</p>

<p>what’d you get on previous AP exams?</p>

<p>your ECs are awesome, but SATs are low. you should get at least a 2200 if you want a shot at Princeton, Dartmouth, and Brown, in my opinion.</p>

<p>if you end up sending the 2140 score, I’d say chances are slim for Princeton but still possible for Dartmouth and Brown.</p>

<p>You’re in for all the others.</p>

<p>The above posters clearly are misinformed about many of these schools.</p>

<p>You are a white male from one of the worst locations, geographically-wise, for college admissions at highly selective institutions. The only thing you’ve got going for you is the fact that you’re valedictorian. Your test scores are mediocre at most of the schools on your list.</p>

<p>Princeton, Dartmouth, Brown, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Johns Hopkins, and WashU are all most certainly reaches - though the first three more so than the others. You’re in at Skidmore and UVM, though, and probably in at Bates and Vassar.</p>

<p>Get your test scores up, if you can.</p>

<p>Thanks guys, I really appreciate everything you’ve said. Government, you echoed the way I’ve viewed my list to a T, but I try to make myself feel more optimistic haha. But I felt the SATs on Saturday went a lot better, so I certainly don’t think breaking 2200 is impossible. I’ll just have to wait and see for now!</p>

<p>I’d say the ivies are a crapshoot and you might get into a few of them but the rest of the schools on your list you have a great shot. You have quite a mix of schools ranging from lacs to larger schools so it’s good that you have such an extensive list.</p>
