No matter how hard I study--and I study for hours on end, using every method in the book--I can't seem to get As in AP gov. I had a 95 as of today since I got a B on the 2nd test, bringing my average down to 92. Normally I would be okay with a 92 since it's AP Gov, the spawn of the devil, but I'm assuming I got 50%-100% on the FRQ, meaning that my average probably won't go up after my teacher puts in this next grade. The problem with me is that I know I can get As, hell, I'm confident that I have the ability to get a 100, but I just don't. Why. I'm pretty sure I overprepare for these damn tests but there are always questions that I don't know. Granted I narrow them down 50-50 but I almost always get them wrong due to overanalysis + not being logical/rational.

I know I'm not stupid--I have all 97+ in my classes bar engineering (just have a lazy teacher who gives 95's on every grade), but I can't get the thought out of my mind that I'll get another B for the semester.

help? Feeling really depressed right now. I have a bio test tomorrow but have absolutely no motivation to study.

Maybe you’re overthinking everything. AP Gov is a lot more cut and dry than the course description tries to make it seem - actual government and political study in college is much more nuanced, but AP Gov is almost pure reiteration of memorized material. Don’t stress yourself out - just do the reading, re-read as a means of studying, and take the test.

Ever since last unit, I have been trying to study as I progress in the unit, so I don’t have to cram as much right before the test. I usually just reread stuff, and that’s it. Should I rewrite notes? The issue is that I have an outstanding memory (I’d want to say), but there’s always something that I didn’t see before or am not familiar with.

Well - I happen to find that cramming helps me, but we may think differently. I don’t take notes in Gov. I just read the chapter the night before the test right before I fall asleep and I can basically retain all of the details necessary; I received a 100 both first and second quarter, and I currently have a 102 – but a lot of Gov is material I have always been familiar with. I understood the bureaucracy in middle school and the system of checks and balances when I was in elementary school, so a lot of what we go over in class is just topics I’ve been exposed to before in a more detailed/in-depth fashion. So that might be it.

That’s what I suspected was the reason. I’ve never been experienced to very much government–prior to entering the class, I knew the three legislative branches and the basic types of government, but that was about it. I don’t really find the subject interesting, either.

do you have any times in fighting through those ap gov questions such as All of the following are true except: ?.. and then like 3 of the answer choices seem to be correct, and some of the choices are so close together that you dont know what to do…

If you feel inept, then you might be Inept.
If you are inept and feel incept, you should become less inept.

Kid, you’re not even in high school. Get out of here and don’t talk to me.

“and then like 3 of the answer choices seem to be correct, and some of the choices are so close together that you dont know what to do…”

This is exactly my problem.
