Right now my plan for the summer (rising junior) consists of AP assignments and volunteering at a local nature museum, and maybe visiting SUNY Binghamton, CCNY, and (really unlikely) Cornell. Last summer I only volunteered once or twice a week, and over this school year I volunteered every Sunday. This summer I'm going to try to volunteer 3 or 4 days a week. I've tried searching for jobs, but I'm still 15 and every job is 16+. I thought of doing a college program, but they all seem pretty expensive, and, again, most of the ones I'd be interested in at local colleges, I'm too young. I've been actively searching for other volunteer opportunities, but the nearest soup kitchen is in an extremely dangerous neighborhood, and most other volunteer opportunities I found online are, again, 16+.
So will volunteering daily at a museum be enough for the summer before junior year? If it helps, the college I have my hopes set on is Macaulay Honors.
