Feeling down..chances at UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD?

Hey everybody,
I've been wanting to go to UCB since I was in 7th grade (currently a junior), and I thought I had been doing well, but now I'm telling myself I should settle for less...

Sob story aside, what do some of you think my chances are at the following universities:

UC Berkeley
UC Los Angeles
UC San Diego
UC Davis (safety I'm hoping.)

Attending: Private Catholic High School in CA

My counselor says I am doing good so far, but here's the problem: junior year has been really tough on me, I am currently taking 2 APs and 5 honors classes. I'm also 99% positive I will be ending the year with 4-5 B's.

That last bit of information considered with the stats above, do you still think I have a shot at Berkeley (maybe I can get it up to straight A's again next semester)? I really want to go! :)

Thanks guys.

What are your SAT scores?

Yeah if you have good SAT scores you should be fine.

Your dream school is Berkeley yet you don't know that they use their own system of calculating GPA? Tsk tsk.

Try your best to only have a max of 5 Bs for sophomore/junior year. Anymore and your chances will get slimmer and slimmer.

dt_, Flippy, I'll post those asap!
And Castel, I'm well aware that the UCs use their own algorithm for calculating GPA. Which for me is both good and bad!

it really depends on your SATs at this point, for berkeley your going to need above a 2100

woolrich,

Actually, considering that the entering class had an average SAT under 2000, I think that over 2100 is a bit high. The 50th percentile is around 2050 for admits.

8.23.2007 - UC Berkeley fall 2007 entering class

just a heads up, that UCs only take into consideration 8 semesters of honors/APs, so you really challenged yourself this year (you already nearly maxed in sophomore year). just go for a 2100 SAT score and you should be fine. your overall might take a slight drubbing however

SAT's of around 2000 should make you competitive for UC Berkeley. You have an excellent GPA. But admissions can be random at UC Berkeley so you never know. Best of luck!
