Feeling hopeless to get into UIUC

Hi I'm an international student from Malaysia.Just got my SAT and TOEFL scores today.I didn't do well in my SAT at all.I want to major in Computer Science and the application date is opening this Sept and I will be applying the priority filling period

SAT
CR = 530
MAT=690
WRI=480

Total 1700

My TOEFL score is 101.I don't think so I will be admitted into the College of Engineering.Do you think I have a chance into its Division of General Studies?

SAT is low but math is most important for engineering and they give some consideration to the fact that internationals may score lower than others on CR (writing section is not a factor in the admission decison). In other words you are in reach territory but not an automatic reject even for engineering; note if you apply engineering and are rejected by it, you will then be considered for DGS. Be aware that an October retake of the SAT would be timely for EA as long as you identify UIUC as a college to automatically receive scores in your test application. Likewise the Sep ACT would be timely.

Teohzj123, take the ACT test also. My kids took both tests and clearly did better on one test over the other.
