You’ve already gotten some good answers but I have personally found a very effective way to deal with my insomnia.

Using over-the-counter sleep aids may work in a bind where it seems impossible to sleep, such as an airplane, but they can seriously make you feel even more tired in the morning. Even better than over-the-counter sleep aids you have options in pill forms. Melatonin is a natural occurring hormone; taking a supplement can help relax your body and induce sleep.

To be honest, what has helped me the most has been a series of “relaxation” videos on youtube. I’ll send you a link, some may think of this as “creepy” but if you can just go with it you may find yourself drifting off to sleep very soon.

I have personally struggled with insomnia for many years, the videos alone are a great resource and I cannot tell you how many times I have fallen asleep. The link I will give you has many free relaxation scenarios and techniques on youtube. They are appropriately length (some even over an hour!) and are relaxing.

I suggest you look into WhisperCrystals relaxation videos.
All of her sessions are free to download if you’d like.

My personal favorite is “Paradise Island Message and Sleep Relaxation” You may find this on youtube as well!

I do realize these seem a little corny, but just go with it and you’ll at least be relaxed! It works wonders to visualize the scenes she describes. My sister laughs at me for this, but I swear by it!
