Feeling of Dread?

Is anyone else getting that feeling of dread as we close in on April 30th?? Everytime I think about UCB coming out in a short while, my heart feels like its sinking in my stomach...

Everyday I this feeling grows that I won’t get into UCLA followed by UC Berkeley…a double wammy.

Ya my heart is slowly sinking too.

pre-application time was the worst b/c I felt like I got nothing to offer.

december/january- relieved

post-application time:

feb- was dread/angst/starting school again

march- indifference

april- indifference so far

fear of rejection.

i just want to know so i can get on with my lifeee

I was rejected from UCB as a high school senior. I remember how awful that day was.
So this time, I just lower my expectation. I’m pretty relaxed…
if got in UCB/UCLA, will jump and scream of joys
if not, oh well, im goin to UCD then :)

guys, if you apply to Cal in a highly competitive major…say…psychology…can you still get accepted (but not as a psych major, i.e. forced to change major) or is it psych or bust?

@ NCB316: No, Cal only considers you for the major that you apply for. If you’re admitted, you can switch into w.e. you want in the College of L&S pending prereqs are done and you have a high GPA.

Seriously I try to lower my expectations, but it’s do hard when everyone at schools is talking about it. Everyday in the Honors Lounge everyone is talking about it, it sucks to be on the fence, I wish I felt this way to motivate me last semester :(

That’s what I figured, just some wishful thinking on my part. ;)

@ NCB: Are you a Psych major? I am lol. If so, have you already applied or will apply in the fall?

Think of it this way: It’s out of your hands now, so make the best decision possible in terms of adjusting to whatever may happen. Make backup plans in the case that you don’t get in, and in the case that you do get in, well, then you obviously know what to do =p.

It’s the same thing I do when I don’t do as well as I would have liked on say a test. It’s over, it’s in the past, move forward with life and keep on keepin’ on. All one can do in life is try their hardest to succeed.

I applied to Cal, UCLA and Davis as a psych major. Accepted to UCD and awaiting the news from the other two with great fervor! If I would have known how low Cal’s psych acceptance % was I probably would have applied as anthro, history or poli sci although I’d bet they are pretty low as well.

Thanks BayAreaTransfer

What is, is I guess. Best of luck!

You automatically get into your major though if you are accepted. Someone that just transfered to UCB said that I may not get into my major when it’s time to declare at CALSO. I know mine is impacted (social welfare) but I mean if I applied and was accepted why would I not get into my major?
If there is a chance of this I really don’t want to go there.

@ Victoria: You can switch into an impacted major at UCB CALSO as long as you have a 3.2+ and prereqs done or nearly done. I’ll be switching from phil to psych. I’m positive about this because I spoke to a UCB admissions rep about it, tourguide at UCB, my counselors, and people on the UCB board lol.

@ NCB: I applied to the same schools and have also been admitted to Davis! Which school do you prefer? I think I’ll be going to Cal if I get in. I applied as a phil major, but will be switching to psych. Kind of like what you mentioned about applying as an easier major lol.

I found it more annoying with the other universities UCLA and UCB at least have a better timeline of when we will hear form them lol

I’d have to think that it’s Cal>LA>Davis for me. I think I’ll really enjoy Davis if I end up there, though. Very cool college town and Sac is right next to it!

yeah i like not knowing, cuz knowing that i will know soon is definitely more tortuous than not knowing at all.

I thought Berkeley admitted by college, not by major. If you are applying as a psych major, like I am as well, aren’t you admitted to just the College of Letters & Science and not by specific major?

Alejandro and NCB, I also applied as a psych major. Post your stats!
