Feeling Overwhelmed...UC Question!

Ok so here is the situation…

I just moved to California over the summer (in june) and am now in my senior year of high school. I started to fill out the UC app today though, and I realized that they ask if I’ve been a resident for over a year. Does this mean that I can only apply to the UC’s as in-state if I’ve been here for over a year? I can’t seem to find a solid answer to this question, so I’m hoping you can help me out. Since my whole family lives in CA, we don’t have residency in any other state AND I’m graduating from a CA high school I don’t think there should be a problem, but I just want to make sure. <p>I was planning calling tomorrow because I'm applying to 6 UC schools but I'm just a little nervous and wanted to see if anyone could help. I just want to make sure I'm considered in-state in the admissions process. Thanks for the response.</p>

<p>I think you're going to be OK. You'll be graduating from a Calif. high school, you'll have established residency for a year before classes start, and it will be obvious that you're a permanent resident. Still, calling to double check it a good idea. Hope it works out for you!</p>

<p>You have to be a resident for 366 days prior to the first day of class at that UC (which is late August for Berkeley and late September for the other UCs), so you should be fine.</p>

<p>Thanks for the tips. I would just check the in-state box, but it asks if I've been a cali resident for over a year. Thanks for the encouragement, I think i should be fine but I guess I'll call later anyway. Anyone else know about this?</p>

<p>"If you have not been living in California with intent to make it your permanent home for more than one year immediately before the residence determination date for each semester in which you propose to attend the University, you must pay a nonresident tuition fee in addition to all other fees. The residence determination date is the day instruction begins at the University of California, Berkeley."</p>

<p>All the UCs have the same policy. You must have been a California resident for 1 year and 1 day (366 days) before the residency determination date, which is the first day of classes at that UC campus. Your status at the time of application does not matter.</p>
