feeling sentimental about apps?

as i sit here working on my applications to transfer to universities, i realize just how amazing this is gonna be in the coming year for all of us transfer students. filling out all the blanks (intended major, birthplace, parents info, school history, etc) makes you think about how much work you've put out in the past few years. you know, semesters come and go and you work your arse off, but nothing really amazing happens, even when you get a 4.0, like me.

and then.. as you start to fill out applications for transferring, it's an amazing feeling to be able to put down a 4.0 (or whatever gpa you have) when it asks you for your gpa. why? because you know how much work it took to get there. only YOU know what that 2 digit number -really- represents. it represents parties and study sessions and breakups and finals and rent bills.

i dunno, maybe i'm reminiscing a little too much.. but it does feel like all the work at my cc for the past 2 years has paid off, now that i'm putting my life story into little white blanks and essay prompts.

good luck to everyone here. the next coupla months are going to be crazy!

That's actually true! We never appreciate the time and effort we put in to get grades like that. Which colleges are you applying to?

I can definitely relate to that as my 3.9 gpa has cost me a lot, god knows how many parties I skipped to study, how many potential friends I could have made; and I know it ruined a serious relationship.

I have no regrets so far though, get back to me when results are in though :D

MMoralN10Tion - i'm looking to leave my calif c.c. and go to usc (!!!!) or berkeley or ucla or any of the other universities of california. i'm just not sure if my heart lies in nor cal or so cal.

buuuut, i figure if i forgo partying here in my small home town, then i have a much greater chance of partying it up in a great college town.

You'll get in, I'm sure... Don't schools like Berkely have some sort of transfer agreenment with community colleges in Cali?

MMoralN10Tion - unfortunately no, not all c.c.c.'s have transfer agreements. my school actually has only one (and it's with uc davis) because my particular school is very small. unlucky for me, as i have absolutely no desire to attend davis.

BUT... doesn't stop me from still kind of enjoying this look back through the years that these apps basically make us do.. yep, lots of hours studying, lost sleep, unattended parties, non-social activity.. just to get a number attached to our name. but unless you have absolutely NO EC's (or no life), then there was -some- time spent outside of book blazing.

these are the best times of my life, and i'm trying to remember to not be sooooo goal-oriented with school and focus more on just how much fun i'm having being a student and being 20 and having so much freedom and experiencing and experiementing with everyone and everything...

stepping off philosophical soap box

Indeed. I wish you the best of luck!

ya know, i knew you weren't from california even before i saw that you were from MD. why? because ppl from here -never- call it "cali" ... never ever ever. :) just fyi.. it's perfectly fine though! i'm just noticing that.
