Feeling stressed, anyone?

wholy fudgenuckers…your test scores are BEASTLY…

& there’s something called financial aid that you will def. get WHEN u get accepted to exeter :)

Im not going to lie…you’re not competition, you’re above me lols…

don’t be nervous on march 10th because it will all be good news  (at least for you)

&& if i eliminate the bottom four (my low reaches + ‘safeties’) then i’ll have none…right?

which of the remaining schools would be my low reaches/safeties? B/C no matter what, i’m expecting to go to ONE boarding school next year, no matter which one that is…so i have to get into one.

Keep Kent as your back up…Im assuming your a relatively smart/unique person so you should get in there. Eliminate bottom 3 and and take your pick on anything other than middlesex so you have have another match/safety.

Standardized test scores don’t mean anything. I know plenty of people who aren’t all that smart and still do exceptionally on standardized tests… but thanks for the compliments, nonetheless! :-)

I’m not above you! You probably participate heavily in extracurriculars, right? You probably have a bunch of stuff that sets you apart, and all I can think of that sets me “apart” is that I live in a foreign country and my mom graduated from Andover. And ZERO of those things are down to me. I try so hard to stay pragmatic because I know that even if I do get accepted into any of my schools I still probably won’t be able to afford them. That’s not to say I’m not giving my all to my apps, but I just think that if I prepare myself for either rejection or inability to pay expenses (or both) then the fall will be all the softer if it comes. Financial aid is especially competitive for me because I belong to a different pool (a much for competitive pool) when financial need is evaluated. In the international pool there is way not as much money to go around for financial aid as there is in the normal, American pool.

Yeah, maybe keep Kent. They have a relatively low SSAT average so your score will probably make you stand out in comparison to the average applicant. I also hear that the kids there are really nice - that’s always a big plus, one of the reasons I loved Deerfield so much. Or maybe Lawrenceville - they’re a really good school and they have a higher acceptance rate. It would be a pretty strong safety.

Yeah, I keep on kidding myself that i NEED to apply to ALL of those schools, but reality is that i dont.

I just want to have options for when i get accepted (if i get accepted). -> Unless i get accepted into Exeter b/c then, that is the ONLY option :D

So, keep Kent?

ahahaha if you’re getting stressed out with just the applications, it’s gonna be fun seeing how you deal with the loads and loads of classwork at bs. :]

haha i have a load of fun ahead:

-one science project
-3 essays for english
-need to get recommendations
-2 projects in english
-a book to read

  • a history packet
    -one research project
    -plus regular homework
  • and mid terms in a week

cheers!

question: I see on all these threads that people are submitting portfolios and recordings ect… I read somewhere that you are not supposed to send these things unless the schools asks because they dont want to be burdened with stuff to look at, and we’re not applying to college.
I’m making a recording for one school because the teacher asked, but should I send it to all the school I’m applying to? should I send other things too like a photography portfolio?

@ starz: source, please? not trying to be snippish, i’m just curious.

if you’re emphasizing art as your strength then i think it’s pretty basic that you send in a portfolio. i mean, it’s sort of proof that you’re actually THAT good…

Half of mine ask. But I don’t really have anything to send them.
Would it be better to send in something, even though it’s not my strong point?
I did a sonnet in school…

Do any of you guys get exempt from mid terms?
I think I am!! :D

I hope I am, because I forgot a lot during the break.

P.S. Why am I still a junior member!? It’s been like this for months–

I think it has to do with posts, nope my school doesnt let nay get expemt from mid terms. Its really stupid…then we have ours in January. So now my school report will be in a little late but w.e.

My school always just wants to be different…

hehe. my school has no mid-terms. Only finals! (sorry, I brag to everyone)

Wow, starz27, what kind of school do you go to that doesn’t have midterms?

Private day school, nothing special. In my middle school we have (just) finals in june, and in the high school they have mid-terms, but no finals.

O ya, in middle school I didn’t have mid-terms either.

Ooooh ok, for some reason I thought you were already in high school, sorry for that

My middle school gave midterms but they were, and still are as far as I know, CRUEL

We do midterms and finals, and I’m in 9th grade, so this is high school. We have exactly 13 (unlucky!) schools days left until midterms. Yikes.

Haha we took midterms before break, the pressure is basically off for me in terms of impressing my schools  Other than those essays that I need to send in, though…

Were taking them next week…I should be studying. But w.e

well, my high school’s mid terms actually arn’t until march, so I guess they’re not really mid-terms.
