Feelings About In-State Schools

How do you feel about your in-state schools?

I'm from New Jersey, so of course Rutgers and TCNJ come to mind. I find myself pretty lucky, as both are quality schools that I'd be happy to attend if money became a major issue.

The only colleges in Ohio I would attend (short of some kind of financial crisis) are Case Western, Ohio State, and Oberlin. And two of those aren’t even public.

UT Austin is better than most private schools so I’m fine.

I’m from Washington and I’m pretty fortunate to have some great schools in my state. The University of Washington is considered a “public Ivy” and has a top medical school while people interested in being veterinarians opt for Washington State University (mostly for the party and college life scene though lol)

^ That (TX). I sure wish I lived in California, though; their publics trump pretty much any state.

Arizona does not come to mind as being elite, but Arizona State, Arizona, and Northern Arizona do have many strong programs between them. I am a student in the College of Optical Sciences at Arizona and it is one of the most if not the most elite optics program in the country.

New York has some great public schools, Bing, Geneseo, Stonybrook. All schools with strong sciences and high academic standards. Its no California school system but i’d say its pretty damn good system.

I live in California, so I guess I’m pretty lucky :)

I live in Illinois and UIUC is sort of considered a public ivy. A lot of my teachers went there, and the spirit there seems great.

Massachusetts  MIT, Harvard, Tufts, BU, Northeastern. Yup I’m happy

In NC we have UNC Chapel Hill and NC State! And nice private schools too (Duke, Davidson, Wake Forest, Elon). Doesn’t mean I particularly want to stay in state, but it ceratinly wouldn’t be the worst thing.

I’m not a fan of Kansas schools at all. The only reason I’d attend KU is for financial reasons. K-State would probably be a better fit for me if I went in-state but I couldn’t stomach it - I’ve been a KU sports fan too long :D

Every single college on my list (besides KU) is an OOS Public so I’m totally jealous of kids in other states with better schools!

The only worthwhile public here is Maryland College Park, it’s too big for my liking though. Johns Hopkins is the best private, but I probably won’t get in.

I live in New Jersey but considering the amount of people from my high school that go to TCNJ or Rutgers… I don’t really want to go

Another Texan here. UT Austin is the only public school I’d attend. Rice is private and pretty good. I wouldn’t mind going there.

I live just across the Delaware River in Pennsylvania! I’m lucky because Penn State, Pitt, Villanova, and Temple are all in-state for me!

I have UVA, W&M, and Virginia Tech. We also have W&L and University of Richmond. Not bad.

California has the best schools period, all the cal polys, UCs, and Stanford.
NY is great too, NYU, Columbia, and the the SUNYs and CUNYs, and URochester.
Massachusetts, of course, has MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Boston College, Boston University, and Williams College above others.

I live in Cali so I guess I’m pretty lucky. However, they’re waay to big for my liking.

Shout out to living in Florida! UF in state tuition & endless summer, can’t beat it.

Unless you live in Cali. Hate you guys -_- lol

I live in GA, so the two top schools we have are Emory and GA Tech.
