Feels like I've been rejected nonetheless

My financial aid award from NYU is horrendous...even with an EFC of around 7.1k.

Estimated NY State TAP - 500.00
LSP Scholarship - 7,500.00
LSP Eckhouse Scholarship - 6,000.00
Federal Work Study - 0.00
Federal Perkins Loan - 0.00
Stafford Loan 1 - 0.00
Unsubsidized Loan 1 - 0.00
Federal PLUS Loan 1 - 0.00
Aid Year Totals - 14,000.00

(these are the accepted amounts)

I'm not sure if it is worth it to attend NYU because, basically, NYU expects me to somehow pull 50k out of my ass each year. Thanks NYU.

That’s unfortunate. However, I believe there will be a general consensus urging you to look elsewhere. No school, NYU or otherwise, is worth that much debt.

Do you have a good financial safety?

Yeah, as BillyMc said: attending NYU isn’t worth it if you can’t afford it. There are tons of great schools that won’t put you in debt until you’re middle-aged.

Either Stony Brook University (for regular pre-med) or Shepherd University (for an 8 year B.S./M.D. program…I still have to interview at the medical school which I am doing tomorrow). I’m alright with Stony Brook, but it would be great if Shepherd would accept me into their B.S./M.D. program.
