Fellow Americans, do you care about the royal wedding?

Nope, sorry. Not from what I’ve seen.

You said Nobles. Diana was from one of the oldest and most influential aristocratic families in England. The Spencers are arguably more English than the S̶a̶x̶e̶-̶C̶o̶b̶u̶r̶g̶s̶ Windsors.

No.

^ Yes.

Even the protesters acknowledge them.

Yes, I do care. Just because I have an interest in what glamorous people do and read People at the Dr’s office on on airplanes and stuff doesn’t mean I can’t also learn about important stuff.

Sometimes you wanna read a trashy novel. Sometimes you want to listen to Ke$ha. Sometimes you want to hear about Kate and William’s wedding.

Acknowledge them? Nobody questions their existence, but people certainly do question whether they should exist. And some people just don’t give a ****.

The monarchy’s over-rated. But people over here do give a damn. Like, 8 in 10 do. The Royal Wedding marks one of the biggest events of the London Season (Think Edith Wharton, Fitzgerald and British Gossip Girl).

People are fascinated with all things shiny - the things they can’t have. You may not ‘care’ about it, but The Royal Wedding is The ROYAL Wedding. It doesn’t need acknowledgement from anybody, it just automatically is.

Personally, The Royal Wedding’s just gonna add to the stereotype of how all British people are soooooo uptight and snobby, just because it’s ROYAL. Yet, saying that… Kate’s family are upstarts, nouveauriche… whatever. And, just as everybody has said, this Wedding is presumably gonna end in Divorce. Princess Anne’s did, Charles’s did, Andrew’s did too… Only the Queen’s youngest son (whose never acknowledged is happily married), and so is Mark Phillips (Anne’s son). So maybe it’s a sign - The younger generation is more likely to NOT divorce?

I think it’s interesting  I hope they will be happy!!!

PreppyDude123, when you say “over here”, where exactly is “here”? Are you from the UK?

@CloudyCloud, yup, London. Isn’t it in my location, under my username?

I wouldn’t know. I am using my phone and it doesn’t show anyone’s location. I didn’t think any Europeans would browse a cite that is dedicated mostly to American colleges.

Who’ve you been talking to? Most people don’t care to begin with, and those that are interested think that a ‘commoner’ marrying into the royal family is a good thing (and she isn’t a commoner anyway).

I’ve hardly seen the wedding mentioned on British TV, yet it’s mentioned in every American news broadcast I watch.

I second this.

There’s a royal wedding?

I watched the Lifetime movie William and Kate. I treated it as complete fiction though. I’m a huge romance movie fan.

But uhhh… I do think it’s nice that Will will actually get to marry who he wants to and not some cousin of his. That says something about how our generation has come up compared to old ones. (The current queen is queen because her uncle (or something like that) abdicated because he wanted to marry an American.)

But yeah. I guess I don’t really care, but I find it interesting. lol Does that make any sense?

idgaf. I watching CNN American Morning and they seriously devote 60 seconds to real news and the rest to commercials and the Royal Wedding. This is getting ****ing ridiculous.

^agreed. Honestly, 99% of the world doesn’t care about the designer of the royal dress or who’s attending the wedding or any of that.

Actually he abdicated because he wanted to marry a woman that was in her 2nd marriage and wasn’t yet divorced (which isn’t really acceptable for the head of the church of England), plus he was generally not up to the responsibility/pressure of being King.

Elizabeth would still be queen now anyway, since Edward VIII had no kids.

Kate is hot though. I would do dirty things to her and then create a Twitter account to tell the world about it.

I label them with Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, and Nancy Pelosi.

yep i’m totally into it. love it. skipping school on friday ftw.
