fellows program notification?

does anyone know when exactly and how we are finding out about the honors fellows program?? email, by post, and what day??

D rec'd email last week and packet in postal mail on 1-30

what is " D rec'd " ??

oh, "daughter received?" i'm new to this. well the last email i got from elon said they were sending out packets january 26th, but i was hoping they planned to email as well, because i live in germany and it'll take longer for me to be notified...but i don't know if they were going to email or not, like they did with early action acceptances...and do they let you know whether you were invited or not, either way?

thanks!

My daughter received her invitation in the mail today. She has never received emails about either admission (which she received in the mail EA in December) or Presidential scholarship (which she received with her admission letter) or the Fellows program. Not sure why some people seem to get emails and some don't. She did provide an email address on her application. But anyay, I called a few days ago to ask and was told the Fellows letters were mailed on Saturday Jan. 27th. Good Luck!

okay, thank you so much!!

I think if you have been communicating with Elon via email they will post their outcomes to you via email on the date (12:01 am) they mail out their announcements. I may be incorrect but that has been the case for my D.
Any advice on prepping for the fellowship weekend (essay specifically) from others who may have gone through this before? D is excited about possibilities but can't figure out what to expect. Math is her strong suit, spontaneous writing/composition may be more of a challenge. We will see. She's looking forward to the weekend and prefers Elon vs. other NC options (we're in-state and UNC and NCSU seem like obvious choices to her parents but they don't appeal to her). Her chances for a fellowship might make the difference between paying the cost of Elon vs the in-state NC options.

Just wondering...anyone going for Fellows W/E? If so, which programs and where are you from? I am bringing my daughter for Journalism and Leadership. We are coming from the Chicago area. Also, anyone know how many candidates there are for the various Fellows positions?

I am also curious as to the number of candidates.

I will be attending for a Business Fellowship.

I understand that there were about 260 Elon College Honors invitees. Many of those are also invited for other fellowship opportunities. That seems like quite a few for 60 spots (only 30 of which receive money). It doesnt make sense that they would invite that many down and then disappoint many of their best candidates. It is costing us over a thousand dollars to compete for a $3,000 grant.

My grilfriend is trying to decide whether to go next week or not. She laughed at me for going to a scholie test at Michigan State a couple of weeks ago and it was like 5-below, so I think she's crazy if she doesn't let her parents fork over for a trip to where it's like 70 right now. She said it's a waste -- just her safety and she thinks it's just gonna be a cattle show with their best prospects checking each other out. About 500 kids and not much money on the line. But I want her to go and take me with her. Michigan? What was I thinking?

Check out the school paper on last year --

Thanks for the link to the article. Well, for sure, they have invited a lot of kids, but above and beyond who is selected and who gets money, I think it is still worth a trip for us. It is another chance for my daughter to visit the campus and get a better feel about whether or not it is the place for her. It's my first opportunity to see visit Elon and I am curious. And, the experience of interviewing and impromptu writing are good ones. I hope we have some nice NC weather...we just got out of the deep freeze here in Chicago.

If you find coming to Elon and participating in the weekend is below you, then you don't have to come. College is your first taste of the real world, and sometimes, there are thousands of qualified applicants for just a few spots. Either come and do your best and see if you can be accepted into the program, or don't. It's not really that hard to figure out.

We're on our way to Fellow's weekend on Friday. D is psyched. Does anyone know when participants are notified ($,yes,no)? Does Elon wait until potential students are notified about other requests made through their financial aid office? I'm her Pop and want her to keep considering less expensive instate NC alternatives if she doesn't make it (it's a Pop with limited $ thing). Having said that D really want's to go to Elon. It seems like a very special place to her (me too). I think the weather is going to be pretty decent (upper 50's) but not as good as it often is in March.

Thanks Senator B for the link.

D received e-mail this afternoon offering a choice of Elon College Fellow or Honors Fellow. And there was much rejoicing. I think we might go ahead and send in the deposit to hold her place while we wait to hear from a few other places. D is thrilled -- she really clicked with the Honors kids she met on Fellows weekend. Depending on what happens in the next two weeks, she will have some VERY hard decisons to make. Good Luck to everyone else.

Congrats! Look forward to hearing good news from more posters.

do you get an email if you dont get in also?

i'm lstill email-less

Sweetheart,

We haven't heard anything either. I'm hoping the first emails might go to the highest qualified applicants that have the opportunity to be choosing between fellow's options so that Elon can sort out other offers. I'm an optimist. I'd think Elon would respectively contact all fellow's applicants, presumably by email, but it may take some time while their communicating with those with choices before everyone is notified. I'm still hopeful.

Has anyone else heard from the Fellows program besides msreadalot? I'm almost positive that we were told at Fellows weekend that students would receive a telephone call notifying them if they were selected. Did anyone else hear that or did I imagine it? Either way, though, S hasn't heard from Elon yet.

they did say that some students were called
however, i was offerred both honors and elon college fellows and i just got an e-mail asking me to choose
i got this e-mial on saturday
