Fellows Weekend

It is available online that the fellows weekend is composed of an on campus essay and interview. If anyone has experienced this weekend could you please share what type of interview questions to expect and old essay topics? Also, is it a timed essay, or can you work on it overnight?

My S participated in Fellows week-end 3 years ago. Don’t know if the process is still the same, but at that time all the Fellows candidates attended a sample Gen Ed class (subject and time slot varied), and then had to write an essay response to a question given to them by the professor. The essay was completed following the lecture, in the classroom. As for the interview, the interviewer was a randomly selected professor (not necessarily related to the particular Fellows program - my S’s interviewer was a French professor and he was interviewing for Teaching Fellows.) His interview was pretty laid back, just general tell me about yourself, why do you want to be a teacher, etc. His interview turned out to be more of a conversation, but others may have different experiences based on the interviewer and which fellows program. All in all though, the week-end was pretty laid back and not something to overly stress about (although you should not assume that you will be chosen, even with good stats and a good interview - there will be lots of quality students - including many who have not yet committed to Elon - competing for the limited number of spots!)

is fellows weekend a good time to visit the school for the first time? It’s one of my top choices but I haven’t visited yet and I’m applying for the Leadership and Elon College Fellows

@az3ziggy If you applied for fellows, I wouldn’t visit now and again in march. You get a campus tour at fellows weekend
