Fellowship programs

I just got accepted to Cornell ILR, but likely wont go. However, I just got an invitation to the Cornell Traditions fellowship program, which says it is one of 3 fellowship programs offered to exceptional applicants. i get a little scholarship and a summer internship and some other stuff. Is this a big deal? has anyone else here gotten a letter like this? am i turning down a good opportunity?

I got the letter too! I don't know too much about it except that I think it is based on work and volunteering in high school. There are 150 each year. (Is that matriculating or awarded?) I would like to know what your guys take on it is. I guess it requires me to get a job and volunteer a lot. Seems kind of odd... Almost like a punishment...
