In the past, Cornell has been known to send out likely letters to the females applying to the college of engineering. What do your stats have to be like to get in? Does anyone have any info on the whole topic?

My D is COE freshman and received one of those letters last spring. Her stats:
GPA UW 4.0 W 4.22, class rank was 2 out of about 400.
ACT34
SAT IIs 760 Math 2, 720 Chemistry, 710 Engl Lit
she took 11 APs and scored 4 or 5 on most. She had one 3. Did get a 5 in Calc BC as a junior
ECs were okay–lots of stuff outside of school but not a recruited athlete or anything like that

As I recall, there was a Society of Women Engineers group that coordinated/supported the events of that preview weekend. There was also a diversity weekend going on at the same time in the college of engineering. If you get the letter, you should go. I think it came in mid March–not much before decisions came out.

Society of Women Engineers is really helpful at Cornell. It is run by students. If you need a contact at SWE, PM me with your details. Here is a link to Cornell SWE [Society of Women Engineers](http://www.swe.cornell.edu/) . If you go to Cornell, consider joining them.

For stats, look at COE class profile found here, [Cornell Engineering : Class Profile](http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/prospective/undergraduate/about-engineering/facts/class-profile.cfm)

If you are on the mid to high side of these stats, you will get a likely. Likely as the term indicates is not a guarantee for acceptance though and are based on past data. They are sent not just to females but everyone who qualifies.
