females in engineering

which engineering major at cornell university has the highest rate for females? I’m looking into biological, environmental, civil, material science and earth systems. They all interest me so much but I’m having a tough time deciding which major to apply to and tomorrow is the deadline. Please help!

Which major above has the most number of spots AND that it is “more lenient” towards females?

Choose the one that you think is best. Universities don’t admit by major since they expect students to switch during their college career. Also, don’t apply for a major simply because it is “more lenient” to females… schools don’t release that data anyways.

On a side note, if I were you, I would choose the one you identify with most with your extracurriculars. Schools do like to see passion, and if you’re more driven toward one area, I would say go with that. Cornell is a crapshoot anyways, so if you don’t get admitted, it will not be because of your intended major. Hopefully this helps!

Apply to Harvey Mudd, too. Over 50% of their engineering grads were female last year.

Is there an option for undecided? You could always put that if you don’t want the admissions officers to consider your major (even subconsciously) in their decision process.

I am interested in doing something either in engineering or politics! can anyone speak to the culture of engineering at cornell?
