I'm a brand new member, but I've been reading these threads for the past few days. Sounds like there is an amazing amount of talent out there; congratulations on all the college acceptances and thanks for all the info on schools, auditions, scholarships. One thing I was wondering about -- is anyone out there familiar with the college scholarship auditions held at State Thespian Festivals during the school year and at the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska in June? Has anyone (or their kids) participated in these auditions? Are they generally well regarded by the colleges and do they replace the need to travel to the individual schools for auditions at a later date? Also, did anyone go last year and audition for "Ragtime"? If so, how did it turn out?

If I posted in the wrong place, my apologies, hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon!!! Thanks.....

Hopefully DrJohn will post something here for you. He has knowledge about this. Several of my students will also be there in June and will participate in the college auditions.

I had asked this question of Doctorjohn and if you look on page 5 of Otterbein, you'll find the conversation. My D did audition for Ragtime, was called back, but did not make the final cast.

Thanks for the info (and the welcome!). I checked the Otterbein thread as suggested and did find the posts referred to. Sounds like the Festival auditions are a good first step for a rising HS senior. I guess based on the response my DD gets after her auditon, she will have a better idea of where to apply to college. Potential scholarships will be a huge factor in the decision making process; most of the schools discussed on these threads are WAY beyond our means.
