guys, I couldn't attend two of my classes for about half of the semester yet I told a professor about that only at the end so it was kinda late to do anything..so..I managed to get A in one of the classes (programming) and perhaps B or C in the other one (chem)
now the question is..
i was 4.0 up until now i guess..
would that failure (which basically has a reason) greatly affect my chances on transferring to cal/la/otherUc? or should I just fail the final and retake this course during the winter?
i've already finish almost all of my pre-req except for chem
have plenty of volunteering/work/clubs/otherECs
what'd be the best way out of this? transferring in fall '11/already submitted my app

I thought your last grades the UCs look at is your Fall semester 2010? If that’s the case and you "F"ail the class, then that will count as a 0 in your GPA and it will definitely affect your chances. Are you planning to go to graduate school? If so, just know that you would be required to produce all of the grades including any F’s you’ve received.

it’s a c, dude… you did not go to class so maybe be grateful that you actually passed chem? get over it and move on

sorry if i wasn’t clear
i have 3 first tests 98/92/94
then i missed three tests cuz of some stuff
then we have a final
the problem is that this is an easiest class ever but i got zeros on three tests and few labs just cuz i wasn’t there
nad my question is should i fail the final and get an F and then retake the course or just leave it as C
wait when u go to grad school do u have to submit ur CC grades??!

cuz like…i thought about berkeley/ucla…and i think i’d rather prefer dominating in the middle tier uc than dying in berkeley, really…

and besides irvine has a lot of gaming companeis around, right?

You have probably already gotten yourself a D or F in the course. Your average for your six tests is a 47. If we assume the labs have no impact on your final grade and the final exam accounts for 50% of your grade, you will need a 93 on the final to get to a 70 average for the class and receive a C-. If your lab score counts as one test and your lab average is at the same level as your test scores you will need a 96 on the final to barely pass the course. If the final only accounts for one third of your grade it will be mathematically impossible for you to pass no matter how well you do on the final.

if you are trying to transfer next year, u need the highest grade possible even if that is a C. retaking and getting A wouldn’t matter since UC’s only consider your grade up to fall semester. im sure if you get D or lower ur gpa is gonna be below 3.7, so get C. alternative is staying one more year at CC, but i wouldnt waste time if i were you.

okay, a little update
i calculated everything after talking to a professor and im actually getting a “B” if i didn’t screw the final (which i hopefully didn’t)
that is definitely better…

Just curious, how do you miss tests and get a B?

lol i wish i had ur teacher. getting 0’s on THREE tests and still getting a B???

Regardless, I got a B in the course, and now my GPA is 3.91. By the end of the spring my GPA will be 3.95.
Question. Am I still competetive for Berkeley/LA?

No your not competitive, you spelled competitive wrong so that might affect your chances of getting in to ucb/ucla.

but seriously chill out & check the stats!

Most likely just ■■■■■■■■…
