Or not.

13" 2.26 upgraded to 4gb RAM 250gb HDD = $1234
13" 2.53 standard w/ 4gb RAM 250gb HDD = $1399

The $175 figure people throw around is INCLUDING the upgrades already done. Without upgrades, the 13" 2.26 is $1099. Unless you absolutely need the processor speed, there’s absolutely no reason to go with the 13".

(It seems an odd move coming from Apple, honestly. There used to be incentive to buy the higher end (backlit keyboard, specifically). Now there’s nothing but the processor, which means nothing to almost all college students.)

Alright guys thanks for all the info, i think im going to go with the lower end macbook pro and upgrade the ram and hard drive. As for putting windows on, i will just wait till windows 7 comes out for good. If indeed i do need windows before then I can use my current computer.

I guess thats all i need, if anyone still wants to input your opinion then go ahead.

are you pre-ordering windows or waiting until it costs twice as much?

Well chip was right. The windows 7 is an upgrade, you need either windows vista or xp for the upgrade. I do not have any Windows OS that are loadable on a new computer i believe they all came pre-loaded. Since Macs do not have a Windows OS, the upgrade for Windows 7 will not work.

I may just have to buy it new when it comes out, but i will look into it some more.

Does your school offer discounted software¿

there are usually work around for the upgrade disks, but i guess its not worth risking that they remove that option in windows 7, even if thats unlikely.

Well i guess i could purchase it now (the deal ends today or as supply lasts) then i believe you should have a 14-30 return policy after you receive the item which will be a few months at least.

My uncle may have a copy of XP or even Vista if i need it, he does a lot of work on computers and stuff.

Yea i guess your right $50 is a really good price if it can work out that way.
