Few Questions about State

1.How much does it cost to join a sorority? Monthly or annually?
If you join one, do you have to be a part of it the entire year or can you leave after a semester?

What is the best hall to stay live in?
Do you know if there's any known for being a freshmen/sophomore/transfer student hall?
I would like one with an attached bathroom and preferably have a gym in my hall or near by. Which one would you recommend for me?

1) I don’t know very much about sororities. I’ve heard maybe $3500/year? I could be wrong. I’m pretty sure you can leave after semester if you so choose.

2) “Best hall” is subjective. Primarily freshmen halls - brody, hubbard, akers, holden. Primarily freshman/sophomore halls - case, wonders, wilson, holmes, snyder-philips, mason-abbot. Primarily transfer students - mcdonel. Primarily upperclassmen halls - west circle, shaw.

If I were you it sounds like south complex (case, wonders, wilson) would be best for you. Case is filled with James Madison public policy/political junkies (not for everyone), but wonders and wilson have a really decent mix of people in my opinion. All of south complex has suite (attached) bathrooms and south complex is closest to IM west athletic facilities (and is also where all freshmen varsity athletes live). Wonders also has Wonderbodies, a mini-gym in its basement. The other good thing about south complex is that it is closest to the Breslin center (basketball games) and Spartan Stadium (football games), especially if you are a big sports fan.

To add to fa-la-la’s post, Akers is next to a gym and has a suite style setup

Is that the cost if you live in the house or dorm?

psivlovethomas-

Is that more of a freshman or sophomore hall?

like i’ve said, I have no idea. That’s just a figure I’ve heard tossed around when talking about sorority dues. Personally, I think joining a sorority is a waste of money if you can easily make friends yourself

I looked it up on the computer. $557 to $800 a month depending on where you live. Around $200 a month for food. You also have to pay for parking and utilities. I don’t know about actual dues.

A few of the dorms have weight rooms. There are tennis courts and a bowling alley on campus.

Fla-la-lalena
My reason for joining was cause it helps with employment and i want to go to law school eventually and being part of greek can make me a better applicant than others

Whoops! I guess I put the amounts too high. $450 to $700 a month for housing. As for going greek, my son has had invitations from about 7 different greek societies in the last 3 years and he has turned them all down. It’s not hard to get into one if you are in the top 35%.

Some of his invitations were where you move into the fraternity and some were just chapters for meetings.

Thanks Shyanne
Do you know if it costs more to live in a sorority house than dorm when in a sorority?

I don’t know. I can only suggest you look up info on the computer and try to contact some of the sororities for more info.
