im going to be a junior this fall and will be taking the psat in october. is the october psat testing the only one to qualify for the national merit scholarships? or do i just have to take it before the end of my junior year to qualify? if so, what other testing dates are there? and.....do i have to wait to take the SAT till my senior year or can i take it in may of my junior year?

The PSAT can only officially be taken in October. There are two administrations - Saturday and Wednesday (I think). You can take the test before your junior year for practice, but you must take it in your junior year to have it count for National Merit.

As for your SAT, you can take it anytime. Many people take it in the spring of the junior year so that they can retake in the fall if needed

You can only take the PSAT once (either a Wednesday or Saturday, but only one) in October; however, you can take the SAT anytime and as many times as you need/want.
