Few Regent's Questions

Alright. Thanks for the responses about Reccomendations. I guess I will bring 3 just in case.

Can someone answer my second question about which majors get it as I feel that people got regent's based on their majors (some majors are more selective than others)?

And a new question:

What are we going to talk about? I've gone through about 7 interviews already, but they were for admissions and the Alumni knew nothing about me. Should I prepare with studying Berkeley?

How does the day go?
My parents are planning on just dropping me off at Berkeley in the morning...I want to go on the 11am tour. Do I just go to Sproul Hall and look around for signs? I'm kind of scared because I most likely will be alone that day, but I know there are tours and a luncheon and stuff (my interview is at 3pm).

Also, regarding attire, would open-toed heels be alright?

So i have my interview in a few days and i don't really know what to wear. At my other interviews, I dressed casually with a decent top and jeans. I'm getting the impression that jeans aren't really appropriate, so should I wear a skirt or a dress?

Also, (I'm still comparing it to my other interviews just for the colleges, not any scholarship) will it be just as informal?

Besides teacher letters, which I just found out that I must get from my teachers about a few minutes ago, is there anything else that I should bring?

Thank you so much!

5188sui: Majors are not considered for Regents'/Chancellor's Scholarship. It's possible there is a correlation, but correlation does not necessarily mean causation.

The professor, when interviewing you, should have already read your entire application (especially your essays). Be prepared for a person that probably knows you decently well (as opposed to the alumni interviews you've had so far).

Catalysis: Have your parents drop you off at I-house (International House). Check in there; the tours leave from there too. OHP meets on the steps of Sproul at 5 pm.

Attire isn't as important as content; I personally feel that dressing up in a full suit is overdoing it.

asd1asd1: As I said, attire isn't critical. Just be neat and presentable and it should be fine (for the record, I was on duty at I-house today and people WERE showing up in jeans, as well as suits).

You don't need to bring much; letters are okay; that should be it. If you're staying for OHP bring what you need for the night as well (sleeping bag, change of clothes, toiletries).

Thanks for all your help iVinshe!

Best of luck to those of you who have interviews this weekend! Please feel free to come back and post a brief summary of your experience -- my interview is next week, and I'd like to know what to expect! ;)

did all you guys get accepted? b/c when i went to my interview, i was like shocked to be told i had gotten in (YES HAHA YaY yaY)... i never knew and i was like wow this was worth the 2 hour drive.

If you get regents, that means you're accepted :)

yeah dude, i figured that out when i got there. i was happy as heeeelllll.

What was the interview like? What do they ask? I'm afraid they might ask about my major which I want to change....

When I was interviewed earlier, basically they asked you about what you wrote in your essays, stuck to that quite well. If you want to change your major, no big deal. Just be honest with them, and show them you're intelligent about making college plans -- be thoughtful, that's all there is to it.

thanks! Now I just have to remember what I wrote...

Do you know where I can find the essay questions?

LOL I'm sure you have them around or something -- I applied a couple years ago anyway, so I don't know if mine would be the same, plus I don't recall mine =]
