Fianacial Aid & Scholarships for Intl Students

Hi ppl, was wondering about something. I'm an international, and if I've been accepted but currently do not have any form of FinAid or Scholarship offers, is it still possible that I will get anything if I request for it now?

BTW I didn't indicate interest in either when I first sent in my application.

Thanks.

I am an international student and received the Trustee scholarship.
I can tell you this.
USC gives NO financial aid to international students. That means none.
If you applied before the Dec. 10 deadline, you might have a chance. The scholarship deadline was Dec. 10.
I would beg really really hard, and maybe they would give you something.

How would you "beg"?

first, begging does not necessarily mean money, and even if you do get something, it won't be significant.

I would call or email, be extremely sincere, and tell all the things about you that makes them want you more. and then maybe they will be generous enough. Again, don't expect anything significant.

lulupony, you are an international student who got Trustee, can you tell me where you're from and when did you receive the letter? my s is also international and we are still waiting for the scholarship letter =(

I received my acceptance in late January, and enclosed was an invitation to the finalist interview for the Trustee scholarship. In order to get the Trustee or Presidential scholarships, you have to interview for them.

I am an international student (w/o green card) from China who's living in the U.S. I received my Trustee award letter like 2-3 days ago.

A kid at my school apparently already got his Dean scholarship letter at least at the beginning of this week. It might have been sooner. I just know that he got it.

You still might have a chance. =/ I know the financial aid for internat's at USC sucks...

lulupony, thanks. By the way, congrats on your scholarship. What is your intended major?
we'll have to wait patiently for s's scholarship decision letter. It'll be really sad if he doesn't get it as he might not be able to attend USC without it.

thank you. I certainly hope your son will find himself yelling "yes!" in front of the mailbox soon. ^___________^

i intend to double-major in biology/international relations. haven't decided on either pre-med or pre-law, but leaning towards pre-law.

i'm about 99.9% sure to attend USC, and even though the ivy league decisions are still not out, I really don't mind anymore.

Good Luck!!

btw, where are you guys from

lulupony, we are from Canada.

good luck with the ivies. =)

thanks for all your encouragement.

lulupony, do you know if i defer for this year and only enroll in fall 2009, will that kind of 'boost' my chances of getting a scholarship? cause i missed the dec 10 application deadline last year but if im only going to USC next year then do they consider it separately?

btw i am already planning to defer due to military duty, so i was just wondering.. thanks :)

to ycang. I really don't know about deferring. I would definitely call the admission office and ask them about it.

My mistake, but by a closer reading of the admittance packet they sent me, there apparently is some kind of aid available for internat's.

the website didn't work for me, but my guess is that it will be a self-help page leading to outside scholarships.

Hey lulu, do you mind giving me an idea of your stats? I'd like to find out what kind of results+achievements+recs helps you to obtain a merit-based grant like the Trustee.

There are also the International Freshman Academic Scholarship and the President Scholarship, do you know if these are easier or harder to obtain relative to your Trustee?
