Medical epidemiology – Investigate and describe the determinants and distribution of disease, disability, and other health outcomes and develop the means for prevention and control.

Pharmaceutical manufacturing epidemiology – Epidemiologists who work in the pharmaceutical industry may design and conduct studies to help understand a disease that may be modified by a pharmaceutical or biologic agent. These studies may be referred to as “natural history of disease” studies. They also track manufacturing processes for risk assessment purposes.
