But the idea of putting more potentially irresponsible drinkers, with possibly limited experience behind the wheel. Brilliant. Not too complicated to figure out why the federal highway apportionment dollars were tied to the effort to making the roads safer
I have zero desire to read anything about clam farts, and I wouldn’t pay attention and waste my time on a thread that addresses that “issue.” I replied to this thread because I’ve honestly always been perplexed at the incongruity of adulthood at 18 and a drinking age of 21…

Who said anything about drinking and driving? I never advocated that 18 year olds should drink and drive. (I don’t think that anyone, at any age, should drink to excess and drive.) Instead, I mentioned drinking a beer at home with your wife… There are strict laws against DUI. Those apply to every adult, regardless of age.
if your real concern is reducing the number of DUIs and related deaths, then you should prohibit alcohol consumption entirely, for everyone, of all ages – back to the Prohibition argument. It seems that you are ok with DUIs and related deaths due to drivers over the age of 21, but not under. A certain level of DUIs and related deaths due to alcohol is deemed acceptable, but not incrementally more. What am I missing?
People that advocate a drinking age of 21 want to treat 18 year olds as adults, but not really.
