Alright.people
WE all know that we are AWFUL procrastinators
we are on CC when we should be working/studying/other things.
From a site dedcated to this one dillema.
Some Practical Organizing Tips...

Break tasks into small pieces. Make a list of STEPS you will need to take to reach your goal. Then tackle one task at a time, until you've finished the list. It's easier to motivate yourself to work on several small jobs rather than one huge task.
Start your day with the task that you procrastinate WORST on. Whatever you normally hate to do -- make sales calls, clean the kitchen, work on your monthly report -- get it out of the way first thing in the morning. Then the rest of the day is a breeze.

\COMMIT to spend just 15 MINUTES a day working on the task at hand -- set a timer so you know when it's over. You will be amazed at how much you can get done in 15 minutes -- and you'll probably work even longer on your project, once you get started.

Do-It-Yourself Solutions...
I feel the third will work best.

This is what we all will do. We will pledge one hour- any hour of the day as working hour.
in that hour, we will turn off the computer completely + no distractions and immediately work for just one hour. Then we will steadily increase the time. I think this will help. We will try this for 1 day, after CCers will post if it works. If it doesn't we will post what happened and what disctracted us from fufilling the 1 hour fast.
We must fight procrastination actively. Including you Wartsandall. Try this. let's see if it works.

No, i mean set aside one hour each day to concentrate solely on work. turn off the computer/tv/everything and just do the assignment

Result: I lost 15 minutes b/c my mom wanted to talk to me
i got 80% Bio studying done and realized that I had an english assignment which I hadn’t known of.
Sucess rate: 73 %

I’m gonna attempt this method like a week later. Right now, I’m in the process of using a time log (in 15 minute increments) to see where exactly most of my time goes and what I need to improve on. (Inspired by a lecture I saw on Time Management). It’s kind of like seeing where your money goes and then making necessary cuts.

The advice you given us is solid and consistent with a lot other pieces of advice and tips I came across. I’m hoping this works. Unfortunately, I can’t get away from my computer (major source of distraction) because there is no other place than my desk (w/ my computer) to study on.

any hour of the day when you havetime and must do homework.
I say choose an hour late at night.

Since this is a thread on procrastination, I am going to update more insights I’ve learned about our “disease”.

I think one important thing I just learned about procrastination is that it rests on emotions. Last Night, I was upset and gloomy- couldn’t concentrate and then procrastinated. Likewise, if someone is miserable/stressed they are less likely to get work done. I wonder how CCCers separate their feelings from their work so they can focus. what are your tips?
