I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the most accurate results when running the NPC for various schools. I am divorced and the custodial parent. When I run the NPC, is it best to first just enter my data and then do a separate one for my ex's data and sort of add those up? (I think on Dartmouth's website that was what is recommended.) Or is there a better way? Any information/advice is appreciated.

It will really depend on the NPC. I think some of them will ask for the non-custodial info if needed. Here is the list of CSS Profile schools that require NCP info. <a href=“CSS Profile Participating Institutions and Programs”>CSS Profile Home – CSS Profile | College Board;

I saw the Brown NPC instructed the same. Ouch, I think the aid turns out worse that way.

Many of the NPCs are not set up for separated parents. What you are doing is about the only way to do it. Some schools do tweak that info, but how, we really don’t know unless they have set up something specifically.

OK, thanks to all of you for the help!

It’s a pain isn’t it? I feel ya suzy.
