So I’m currently a junior trying to figure out her schedule next year. This of course means trying to fit 5 classes into 3 blocks of classes. My required classes are theology, English (AP Literature), math (AP or dual credit calculus), and government (one semester of government/one semester of humanities). I have 3 blocks left. The five classes I’m considering taking for electives are AP Research, AP Art History, AP Bio (may not run so instead AP Environmental Science), AP Stats, and advanced/honors anatomy.
I plan to major in neuroscience (neurobiology if offered) with a pre-med track. I’m applying to a handful of top 20 schools (UChicago, Northwestern, Vandy), along with some Big Ten schools and smaller Catholic schools (Villanova and LUC). Hope this gives some insight so I can have a rockin senior schedule

AP Bio for sure
What other science courses have you taken and what’s the highest level of foreign language you have reached?
I’ve taken adv/honors biology I, chemistry I, and physics. I only took adv/honors Spanish I and II (I was terrible at it)
You definitely should take at least one science course; out of the two you listed, I’d pick AP Bio.
I think colleges would like AP Research, so I’d pick that as well
The last choice is harder. If you don’t want to overload your schedule with STEM, pick AP Art History. If you really think you can handle it, go with Stats or Anatomy.
Take a look at your prospective college list, the most competitive schools on your list recommend a minimum of three years of foreign language so I would add Spanish III. You may already be at a disadvantage not having 4 years so don’t make it worse by not getting through III.
My recommendation would be AP Bio, Spanish III, and AP Research. If AP bio isn’t offered for some reason, take AP chem, not environmental.
Add Spanish 3 as it’ll be the minimum expected at many universities you listed.
AP Bio definitely.
AP art history is pretty hard.
You’ll have to take biostatistics in college so either AP stats is a preview or no need to repeat.
