Another REALLY easy question for you gusy

do i have to file a CSS profile every year?

If the colleges you're applying to require it, yes, you file it each year. If the college only requires FAFSA, you complete that each year. Your financial situation will likely change a bit each year, so it makes sense to recalculate family need and the aid package.

You will need to check the college finaid policy. It will vary from school to school. At my son's college, you only complete the Profile again if your financial situation "changes". At DD's college you NEVER (woo hoo!!!) have to do the Profile after freshman year for any reason...just the FAFSA. Some schools require the whole shabang every year regardless of whether you think your financial situation has changed. So...read the college website and look for renewal forms to be completed. Then check EVERY year because this can change. Boston University, for example, required the FAFSA for merit aid renewal until DS was a junior and then they dropped that requirement.

Right, it varies. At my son's school we have to do both Profile and FAFSA every year.
