Well, let's see, S's taxes got paid a month ago and I still can't use the data retrieval tool for him and now we paid our personal taxes along with millions of others yesterday.. any bets on when we can use the data retrieval?

I haven't been following the threads lately on this topic, but it seems like rumor is that everyone can use the data retrieval tool and/or get a transcript on May 15th, whether or not they've paid taxes. I don't quite believe that will be possible. Is there any new info on that front?

Thanks.

The answer to your first question is about 14 days.
The answer to your second question is partially that if you haven’t paid your taxes, there is no data for the retrieval tool to collect, making the premise that this is a rumor true.

The answer to the first question isn’t 14 days, from my experience and it sounds like the experience of others.

So I am wondering how quickly IRS will “process” our taxes and payment. I don’t think it will be by May 15.

Clarification - we filed our taxes Jan 28th, and just paid on Tuesday. So IRS has had plenty of time to process our paperwork while waiting for payment.

Have you tried getting the tax transcript? If so, what message did you get? It shouldn’t take more than 4 weeks after you pay to be able to get a transcript or use the retrieval so there may be something else that’s the problem. Have you contacted the IRS? My son’s payment didn’t process until last Friday so I am hoping I will have success in the next week or so. There was another poster who paid a week ago and was able to use the retrieval last night.
