I posted this question last week, but my question was unclear. I reworded my question and repost here.

On the UC (University of California) online application form, applicants need to enter SAT I and/or ACT scores. My D has GPA 4.08 (weighted), and her SAT I (1740)/ACT (27) scores are not high. She is applying to UC system (excluding UCB, UCLA, Riverside and Merced) for a biz major.

She calculated both SAT and ACT scores according to the UC conversion table, it is obviously the ACT score is higher (looks reasonably better). So she just wants to enter the ACT score ONLY on that test scores page.

Three questions:
(1) Does that help a little bit? Hire the low SAT score even though UC people still see her SAT score from the college board report if they check the SAT I scores (she has to send out SAT II scores anyway - two subject scores are required by UC). This is her preferred way.
(2) Does that hurt? Because UC people may doubt why no SAT score is reported here. As a CA resident like my D, all on the west coast take SAT by default. They may doubt you must have had a bad SAT score, and then they may go to the college board report received and check her SAT I score purposely.
(3) It really does not matter if my D enters ACT, or both SAT/ACT scores, UC just takes the higher. I guess that there is a function behind the screen that automatically calcuates the higher one to display on the UC admission office's screen.
