Fill out CSS before or after applications submitted?

<p>Per this little line in the Princeton Review financial aid application tutorial:</p>

<p>"While the FAFSA cannot be filed until after January 1, the PROFILE can be filed as soon as you receive it."</p>

<p>As soon as we receive it? This suggests the schools will send D the Profile as part of a packet after they've received her application. Is that how it works? Or should we get started on the Profile online ahead of time?</p>

<p>Someone asked the question of whether to fill it out for only December deadline schools, then resubmit for January deadline schools, etc. as a way of having some privacy instead of every school knowing every other school you're applying to. Anyone done this?</p>

<p>Look at the deadlines for the colleges. They vary. What I did was to make a financial aid checklist for each school my s applied to. It took an evening, but we should not miss any deadlines.</p>
