<p>Fill them out in the summer. Wait until the deadline to submit so you can update it in case you achieve something big or something important happens in your life so you have a more kickass essay.</p>

<p>Good idea, Chron is right for sending out. At very least, use summer to plan essays tailored to colleges (especially if you visit them over the summer).</p>

<p>Fill out the basic information that wont change i.e. name, social security, thats of that nature so you wont waste time filling that in.</p>

<p>how do you actually GET the applications? do you print them from their websites or to you have to call the school and have it sent?</p>

<p>Common app and supplements should be available sometime this summer. Schools without the common app, I don't know.</p>

<p>Common App. for 2008 will be available on July 1. Most schools that do not take the common app. will not have their applications for 2008 available until August. Many of these schools will have generic essay topics...........</p>

<p>like 'why do you think blah blah school is a good fit for you?'</p>

<p>or 'what would you bring to the community'</p>

<p>or 'a life changing experience' etc. If you can look up last year's essays it would give you something to think about. Essays are usually the biggest roadblock to hitting that SEND button.</p>
