What do I need to fill out pdf forms on my computer rather than printing and handwriting the info? I have adobe professional, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Last year I tried it a number of times using Adobe Professional. I suppose it's technically "possible" but was so difficult and time consuming that I finally gave up.

However we had a copy of Paper Port 10 Pro that came with an inexpensive Visioneer Scanner. We printed out, then scanned in some pdf forms and it worked like a charm. The Form typer module opened each form with typable spaces in them. It was also easy to manually add lines and spaces. If needed, you can change the size and type of font etc. used to fill out the form in a few places where you want to fit a bit more information into the form

You could also directly open pdf forms, but first the program would have to convert it to the proprietary paper port (.max) format. Since we planned to fill out the common app or supplements and mail them in anyway, this didn't affect us in the least

What the hell are ya'll talking about??? lol

There are shareware-type programs out there that allow you to fill in the blanks on a .pdf, but they only work so-so.

Check out PDFill Form Filler at www.pdfill.com which costs about $20. I think they offer trial version that is what the industry refers to as "crippleware" because when you print the filled out .pdf, there is an annoying banner/watermark on the sheet. The watermark disappears when you register and pay for the software.

What do you really expect for $20?

You may want to review user comments on download.com at http://www.download.com/PDFill-Form-Filler/3000-6675_4-10427953.html?tag=lst-0-1 ...

PDFill Form Filler is actually very popular and gets good end-user reviews, but read the pros and cons carefully to determine if the software's limitations are anything that you really need to be concerned with.

The software's performance is super slow on my old Win2000 laptop.

50 cent, I posted something earlier that might help you if you are a novice. You'll have to search CC for it. Basically you have to create text fields.

It depends on the form. Some forms will allow you to input it in (but not to save the file), others I guess you are just out of luck.

actually, it is not that hard.....as zuma said you create text fields and insert texts in whatever fonts color you like. It is called form tool. It ls left of the big T (not the other two Ts with dotted boxes). Click on that. Next draw a text box where you want to insert text. You will get a screen that will let you define fonts, color etc.....Practice it for a while. Once you get a hang of it, use the form tool to create text fields in your entire application. Then use the text select tool - Big T with little dotted box next to it. Use your mouse to select the place in the text box you created earlier you want to insert the text. You may have to guess the location, because at this point you won't be able to see the boundary of the box you created earlier. You can see all the text boxes by clicking form tool again.
