Filling out .pdf forms on PC?

Last year I tried it a number of times using Adobe Professional. I suppose it's technically "possible" but was so difficult and time consuming that I finally gave up.

However we had a copy of Paper Port 10 Pro that came with an inexpensive Visioneer Scanner. We printed out, then scanned in some pdf forms and it worked like a charm. The Form typer module opened each form with typable spaces in them. It was also easy to manually add lines and spaces. If needed, you can change the size and type of font etc. used to fill out the form in a few places where you want to fit a bit more information into the form

You could also directly open pdf forms, but first the program would have to convert it to the proprietary paper port (.max) format. Since we planned to fill out the common app or supplements and mail them in anyway, this didn't affect us in the least
