Hi all, this is my first post here on CC.

I'm a male and a junior in high school in Los Angeles interested in a film/art(with photography concentration) double major and I have a few questions about Vassar's departments.

-Are there any high school prerequisites for film or do choose film as your major once you're accepted? I'm planning on taking TV production next year and I'm doing a 6 week film program at USC this summer - would that be enough to give me an upperhand?

-To be an art major, do you need to send in a portfolio? I'm also taking photography class next year and I have been taking painting classes at an art center weekly for the past year and a half

-Will letting admissions officers know I'm interested in the art department give me any increased admissions chance? I have a 4.1 GPA with a 2040 SAT (planning on taking it again and also taking the ACT), but I know there are people who get into Vassar with scores over 2200 and GPAs of like 4.5.

-How in-depth are the art and film departments at Vassar? I know I could obviously go to an "art school", but I really want a liberal arts education (also looking at Wesleyan, Bard, Oberlin, Bowdoin, Hampshire, Emerson, etc) and I want to go to a school with a broader selection of majors, class options, extracurriculars, and people of all personalities, not just art majors.

I know this is really broad, but any insight into the above questions would be so so so appreciated. thanks!
