Film: CSU Northridge vs CSU Long Beach

I am a California Community College student. I am planning on transferring to either CSU Long Beach or CSU Northridge in the fall. My major is film. I was wondering what program is considered to be better. I really enjoy that Northridge is closer to studios, making it easier for me to get to internships (I don't have a car). However, I personally enjoyed the campus at CSULB more. I also know that Spielberg went there(although he didn't finish his education there until much later). I would love to hear from former or current students of both programs to see how they enjoyed it. However, if you know anything about the either program or school feel free to post.

Thanks for your time!

I think your dilemma is common to all majors but still very annoying to have to decide- work vs college life

If you’re really 100% set on film as your career, then I’d go for Northridge. You need to get your face and name out there and known to people who’ll hire you once you graduate.

If film is a 90% (strong but flexible if a more interesting opportunity arose), I’d go to Long Beach and enjoy college for college.

Either way, you really want to be using your spare time to make your own films with or without your friends.

Alas, although famous alumni are great for name dropping with family or hs friends, they’ve usually graduated/studied 10-30 years previously when few/none of the staff are still teaching and the departmental building could be the other side of the campus. Choose because of what’s offered to you now.

CSUN is much better for film prod.
