Film Majors 2022

Hey people, I just wanted to start a discussion going for hopeful film majors. I am applying to USC, NYU, Emerson, Syracuse, Boston University, Florida State, Tulane, Hofstra, Quinnipiac and I just got into the film program at Ithaca!

It’s a highly rated program. Our son applied to the writing for tv and film program. He has a strong SAT but his GPA will probably keep him out of any Park School major.

What are your stats?
I’m applying to screenwriting at Chapman, LMU, UCLA, BU and comedic arts to emerson

My son was accepted to Ithaca within two weeks after submitting on 10-30-17. He received a sizable four year, Rod Serling merit scholarship. His SAT and GPA are very good, not stellar, but his ECs and essay are 1st rate. His essay was a critical, yet humorous/semi-sarcastic, analysis of the 50-year old holiday TV special, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Emerson is his 1st choice; still waiting.

Our son got in with a Serling Scholarship. The essay must have impressed them.

Im applying to Chapman (ED), UCLA, USC, LMU, and NYU with a 4.2 GPA, 32 Act, and (what I believe) is a lot of experience in film.

Anyone applying to UNCSA? I interviewed on November 18-

I’m applying for screenwriting at Ithaca, Chapman, FSU, Emerson, and Syracuse. I take the IB and have a 1290 SAT

I got a 14,000 Flora Brown scholorship at Ithaca. My stats aren’t as good as I’d like. I have an (unweighted) GPA of 3.4 and a SAT of 1280. Not super impressive. However my school is know for having an extremely high academic rigor so it’s common for students at my school to get accepted into schools where they have a lower GPA than average. However I have a lot of reach schools so I don’t expect to be accepted into most schools I am applying to. Just hoping for the best

I applied to IC’s film program on Nov. 20, still waiting. Ithaca College is my top school and I’m so nervous! Haha.

applied to USC, Emerson, NYU, Syracuse, Chapman, LMU, and Ithaca. still waiting on each

Congrats on the scholarship. They say you can use a scholarship at one school to negotiate for scholarship at another school. Some tips on how to effectively do this would be nice. Next stop: Google search.

November 1st was cutoff for early action. You might be waiting a while. Good luck.

Interviewed at UNCSA on the 18th, still waiting for a reply. I got accepted into Ithaca a few days ago (Film/Photography/Visual Arts Major). Rejected from UNC Wilmington. Still waiting to hear back from Emerson, Boston, and LMU. Boston and LMU are huge long shots for me so I am hoping to get into my top choice, UNCSA. I’ve been in love with them for years and have been lucky enough to attend their summer sessions three years in row. I’d honestly probably be crushed if I were rejected, but I’m trying to stay hopeful! Good luck to you and everyone in this thread!

Check your MyIthaca portal, @TARUJI! I had apparently been accepted on the portal for days before I got my letter.

I applied to Ithaca on October 29 for Ithaca and still haven’t heard anything… I checked my portal and there"s nothing…

I got accepted to Ithaca with a 20,000 dollar scholarship!

I don’t think everyone who applied at that time has heard back yet, so I wouldn’t lose hope. A lot of early action people on the portal’s comment section haven’t heard anything either.

Are your scholarships with your acceptance letter, or separate?

Our son’s scholarship came with the acceptance letter. The need-based grant come later (hopefully he gets that as well; otherwise Ithaca’s not affordable).

S2 also accepted to film with $14k.
