It’s the application system that has been the least sensical of all the schools my son applied to. I believe the reason so many people are left in limbo through waitlists and unduly long waits for regular admission is because of the problem of people waiting to hear from NYU and USC and UCLA for better offers and in the meantime they’ve accepted Chapman offers while they wait to see if they get off waitlists at those schools. Chapman then anticipates summer melt in their enrollment and then they turn around and offer those spots to the people who are on their waitlist ( the irony being those on that waitlist are probably 10X more eager to go to Chapman than the people on the fence that they outright offered spots to). Such an agonizing mess…Only good story I’ve read so far was Dillon, and a well-deserved hurrah to him.

i second bonj - a big congrats…but - did they give you any $$$??? Would love to know for those of still waiting if they still have $$ to hand out…because if I do get in now, with zero dollars I probably can’t go anyway…
and congratulations again

I agree 100% bonj …

The application process is horrid.

I am currently still waiting for a decision as a transfer student. My file was completed in late February and is still ‘decision pending’. Today was the day they originally said all transfers will know their status… I called admissions and they said “by the end of this week.”

Every transfer student’s story as a film production major has ended miserably. It’s depressing, especially when you’re still waiting.

Has your son heard anything back yet about his status on the wait-list…

Yeah I actually did get quite alot of money, but that’s kinda cause I’m in a special situation. The actual university gave me about 18,300 and then I got some more from the feds

and thank you all!

I’m a transfer student, also applied for dodge college for film production.

my status as of today indicates “file completed, decision pending” and that’s been like that since May 10th or something. This is making me very impatient. The last day of deposit already passed so I’m guessing I’m on the waiting list.

If anyone is interested, here is my Chapman video essay - [YouTube - “The Source” Chapman University Video Essay, Fall 2010](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZmAKGfu-yg)

Also, has anyone done any type of financial aid process through Chapman while waiting for the admission decision? Only thing I’ve done so far are FAPSA and I’ve been just waiting for the admission to come, so I could do more financial stuff later. Just wondering if anyone else has done more, then I would like to know what can be done.

@zealofsoul- i was in the same situation as you but as of today 6/8 my status changed to “admission approved” i thought for sure I was on the waiting list as well but i guess they are still giving out acceptances this late.

That’s great news xxpendable.

I’m still waiting…but at least they’re still accepting students.

@xxpendable

Congrats! Meanwhile, to the rest of us waiting, I think our status will still change if we’re put on the waitlist. It’s more likely that the admissions team hasn’t gotten to our applications yet, I think.

I got off a phone with a Chapman admission advisor and according to her, there is no waiting list. The application process is still on-going and that’s why it is taking longer.

Also the last day of deposit apparently isn’t June 1st, it’s 2 weeks after receiving your admission decision. Very interesting… So I guess whoever is waiting just have to keep waiting.

@xxpendable and congrats on your admission!

good job on your video essay zealofsoul.

Hi guys! I emailed the school to ask and got this reply:

Your application is still pending a decision. With applications to our film school it takes longer because there is added review that happens.

We do not know yet when these decisions will be finalized by the department.

*Note: I applied for Film Studies, not Film Production.

@madeforusc…

“We do not know yet when these decisions will be finalized by the department.”

As of today, they’ve had my application for 5 months…still ‘decision pending’.

If Chapman wasn’t my first choice, I would have blown them off a while ago.

@matt119

Agreed! I sent in my application in January and am still stuck on Pending.

Chapman wasn’t my first choice initially, as my username suggests. But sometime before I got my admission decision from USC, I realized that Chapman was definitely more suited to me and I’ll enjoy it a lot more.

Still, I’m getting really, really impatient. I wish they’d come to a decision soon!

Well, my status changed today: ‘decision complete.’ So, I was most likely rejected… again…ouch. Not too worried, I’ll take next semester off and apply to other schools.

Good luck to those still waiting.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that! Please do take care!

Is there anyone still waiting for the decision?
I’m an international student and I had made an appointment for F-1 visa application which is on the 30th this month.
Now I’m struggling between dropping Chapman and postponing the visa date.
Chapman is my dream school. But the school told me that my files are still in committee review.

@ixhtin

I’m still waiting too! An international student as well. It’s pretty frustrating cause I don’t know how I’m going to settle everything in time! But since Chapman is your dream school, it makes sense to just postpone the Visa date. DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR DREAM! :|

@madeforusc
Thank you!
I decide to postpone the Visa date.^^
Good luck!

my patience is wearing off… Almost July and no answer back from them. I called them on the 18th of June and they told me the decisions should be given out by the end of the last week. I checked my webadvisor but no decisions yet…
