Hey guys so my webadvisor didnt change but I got an email today saying that I didnt get into film production, but I did get into television and broadcast journalism (my second choice major)…I havent decided if I wanna go that route (still waiting to hear from their financial aid) because I have that full ride to UCI…any input???

My webadvisor is still Decision Pending. I got an email saying I didn’t get into Film Production but I got into my second choice major Television and Broadcast Journalism. I’m still waiting on USC and LMU. Does anyone know if it’s super hard to change majors after a semester at Chapman? I really wanted film!

nrfoster7, I see we’re kinda in the same boat.

linsper: When I talked to Shannon in the admission office this January about transfering, I asked about transfering as some other major and then changing my major to film production major. She said that’s almost impossible since it’s such a popular choice among students and no one really changes their major to something else once they are in film production (I only say almost because I’m not an admissions person). But she did make it sound like that never happens. You could ask them yourself, but that’s what I was told.

Monkarr-Thanks for the information. The only thing that was bothering me was journalism, I wanted TV. I looked over the major at the official website. I see you can pick a focus…I would pick Narrative TV. I’ve wanted to do that anyway besides film. I might go to Chapman now, I just have to see what’s up with LMU and USC. Chapman really is one of the best! I’m so happy I got in. At least I know I’ll definitely be at Cali in the fall, whether it’s Chapman or the 2 LA schools. Maybe I’ll see you there. I’ll keep you guys updated on here.

I’m still pending on Chapman, no word whatsoever.

I want that letter to know its official!!! I am also still waiting on USC and LMU. Down to the wire…

One-way-Did you put down a second choice major for Chapman?

FilmFanatic-Do you know if there’s a set date we have to let Chapman know we’re attending? I gotta wait for those other schools!

Yes, I had Film Studies as my second choice.

Maybe they’ll accept you in your first choice. They email you for second, they change it to Admission Approved on webadvisor for first without no emails. So who knows, you might get into Production.

linsper: supposedly we are supposed to let them know by June 1st. I just sent in mine today. but since Chapman is giving us this BS about acceptance letters going out all throughout the summer an siht, I don’t know if that deadline still applies. but congrats on getting in!! hope to see you there :]

I’ve never heard of them e-mailing people before, this must be new.

If I get accepted to Chapman and end up going to USC, I just hope my seat goes to those of you who didn’t get in for your first choice. It’s killing me that I can only choose one, and I haven’t even been accepted to Chapman! We’ve got a nice little group here and I’d like to work with all of you. If you guys end up not attending Chapman and I don’t get accepted, I’ll be glad. It will make everything so much easier.

Linsper - we really are in kind of the same boat because I am also still waiting to hear from USC - kind of not counting on them though…I dont know why. What do you think you are going to do? Have you gotten in anywhere yet?
And I second the idea of not being able to transfer majors after admitted into Chapman - the email I got specifically said not to rely on that cause it wasnt going to happen.
Can you guys also keep me updated on if you hear from financial aid please…I just need to know when to expect some information from them…

nrfoster: i actually heard from financial aid couple of days after because one of my papers weren’t signed. but it still happened in like a week. so i’m sure you’ll get yours within less time than that! you can also call and ask for your award (thats what i did) i’ve been calling them like everyday for different things, and they are really really nice D:

Monkarrr-June 1st?! Omg, that leaves no room for the other schools. However, it did say this in my email…

“Please let us know of your decision to switch your application over to your second choice by responding to this email directly, as all communication will need to be added to your file. At that time, we will be able to move forward with processing your application and finalizing the decision for your second choice. Note, by replying to this email, you are simply giving us permission to change your major on file. You will still have time to make a final decision about attending Chapman after you have received your admission packet.”

From CA to NY, it takes a week in mail. And then I need to know about financial aid. Hopefully, I get a decision from USC and LMU before Chapman’s deadline.

nrfoster7-I have no choice but to wait it out. I can’t do anything with Chapman right now because I want to hear from the other schools…and then if I get accepted from LMU or USC, I’ll need to take a trip down there and decide between the 2 or 3. I mean, I have gotten into a college 5 minutes from my house in addition to being waitlisted at Emerson College for film. I’d rather go to CA. I’ll either be at Chapman or whoever else accepts me in the Golden State. I’ll make sure to keep updating you and the rest on this thread.

one-way-I haven’t heard of it either. I know they didn’t do it last year telling from the Studentfilms forum…it would say Decision Complete then if you got into your second choice. Hm. Perhaps they want to save money on mail this time since the economy is doing pretty bad. And yes, I would love to work with you and everyone else here as well. This group is tightknit compared to the USC thread. I can’t even keep up with that one to be honest.

So you guys have been accepted as your second choice major and it’s yours if you want it?

One-way, that is correct. Someone from admissions from Dodge College left a message on my home phone today. They want to know if I recieved the information since I didn’t reply back to them yet. I’m waiting 'till Friday to respond back because I’ll most likely know my decision from LMU then.

I think that’s still good news; however, you guys have to obviously way your options and see what’s the better choice for you.

For me, I put down Film Studies as my second choice but I was just as excited for Film Studies as I was for Film Production. It didn’t quite matter because either way, I was going to be making films and working on films - which you will have the opportunity to do.

So what do you guys think so far?

Getting pretty antsy, Got my admission accepted on tuesday, tomorrow is friday, I really hope I get my letter instead of stupid mail.

One-way-I’m happy with TV Production, it’s what I would like to do besides Film. It’s not a total loss for me. I just feel lucky I didn’t get rejected because I know the film school is quite competitive to get into. I hope you get an email or your status changes soon. They seem to be releasing their decisions this week.

FilmFanatic-Do you live far from CA? If you do, I wouldn’t expect an acceptance package from Chapman until next week. I’m from NY so it’s gonna take awhile for me.
