So, nrfoster7, you’re a transfer applicant? You already received a letter for financial aid? Do you know if you have been accepted? When did you send in your application? I applied as transfer to Dodge and still haven’t heard anything. I didn’t think transfers would hear until late May, so please, any information is helpful!

Nic-
I’m transfering from CSULB and Chapman is the only school I applied to. I don’t have the May date, it was just a guess from what I’ve heard/read. about the financial aid thing, i guess im in the same boat as theres no way i can afford their tuition. but i don’t recall applying for anything but the 09-10 fafsa and cal grants? i never really applied for fafsa until this year so i have no idea whats what, but is there something separate other than the two things mentioned above i was supposed to apply? the money thing is kind of scary since it’s impossible (for me) to afford without help D:

right now, my stat is decision pending adflkjdhalkdja i’ve been checking the webadvisor like 5 times a day. oh, and they still havent gotten my high school transcript, so that’s kind of annoying.

so there is a pell grant, a cal grant, and a university grant you can apply for plus other scholarships…I have a special situation where I am under 25 and am not married and do not have kids therefore I have to put my parents on my FAFSA, however I do not have a relationship with them, therefore cannot put the information on it, so you have to go through a whole other process to just put your own information on it without your parents (i did this for both community colleges I have gone to and had it clear through other colleges i got into for fall of 2009 but for some reason chapman didnt “ok” it…so im stuck)…like i said the system is jacked and now i have to try and talk to the dean or something to try and get around it cause its not fair…
as far as the may date goes…i would hope it would be late april early may because colleges need an answer by june 1st, and i would have to figure out the whole financial stuff…late may is just pushing it…finally nice to hear from some transfers in the same boat checking webadvisor every day…was trying to see what the average GPA was that everyone was trying to get in with…

yea, talk to the dean or whoever you need to cuz i heard chapman is really nice about the financial stuff and will help out as much as they can (which is one big reason why i applied in the first place.) i have a fafsa agent and she told me with my grades (i have 3.7 right now) and financial situation (my mom supports both me and my brother on pretty low income) my tuition and maybe plus more should be covered. i really want to hear from them asap so i can sign up for dorms, since i kind of have to move out coming fall.

how did your dodge application process go? i was pretty much out of it entire month of feb trying to finish things and juggle classes. do you have your video essay up? because i’ve seen so many freshman video essays, but i’m sure videos for transfer students are different. just scared because this was my first time filming anything

edit: Shannon updated Chappenings for transfers! you should go check

Ya im guna have to talk to someone about the FAFSA thing…hopefully it works out. Ya I have a 3.7 right now too and I’m getting my AA this June along with most of my classes being honors so I figure that looks decent on my application…and yes I do have my video up…its not the best thing but the prompt was interesting so I did the best I could with what I had. here’s the link:

is yours on youtube as well? I also applied to UCI (which I already got in), UCLA, and USC…Im still waiting for responses from the others…but Chapman is my top choice…where do you go to school right now?

i’m a sophomore at CSULB. the thing is i’m not a film major right now, but art major. i guess that reflects in my video cuz i relied heavily on visuals more than story telling, so i’m kind of freaking out. i have most of my GE’s done but no honor classes or anything, but my film professor wrote me a killer recommendation (i dont know about the other rec letter). Chapman is the only school i applied to since i didnt even plan on transfering until end of january so everything was really rushed. i’m dying right now from anticipation.

kind of embarassing but thats my video

since shannon said decisions are made 6-8 weeks after the files are in, im guessing just 2-3 more weeks at the latest??? hopefully??

nice video…i think we are all in the same boat here with aour grades and things like that…hopefully it all works for us…and ya i think like 2 more weeks…or im hoping so :)

your video was well made! and where are you transfering from? and are you going to try to dorm if you get in?

thank you…and I took all my classes at Santiago Canyon College in Orange (By Chapman) and Orange Coast College. I live in Newport Beach right now with my brother, and if I end up going somewhere in Orange County then I will just stay here. However, hes leaving to go into the military soon, so I will have to carry the whole rent on my own with loans, so that will be fun If I end up going to school in LA then I will probably have to use dorms because the rent there is just too expensive I think. So do you know anyone who goes there, or who is trying to go there?

damn that’s tough. unfortunately, i don’t know anyone who applied or is already attending Chapman haha and i have to move out this coming fall so if i don’t get into dorms i’ll have to look for apartments or something near by. since its such a new environment for me, i’m kind of scared and excited… but that’s if i get in haha

ya absolutely, I completely understand I am kind of in the same boat…I dont know anyone else there (except that my boyfriend goes to grad school at Chapman - but his department is kind of outside chapman) …ok April 19th …and no more answers from places…I think I will try and stay calm for the next couple weeks and we will probably hear back in May…just gotta keep focusing on the other classes…:)

haha i checked today, and nothing.
i try not to stress out, but its so hard hahaha
just wanna get my letter before may 1st D:

yep i checked too haha and still nothing…but omg was it beautiful today 96 degrees in Newport 104 where I go to school by Chapman :S

its so hot! the hot weather adds to the stress hahaha i wish i was at the beach instead of school today

Do all dorms/apts. have air conditioning at Chapman?

well i live at the beach and work outside, so i kind of have the best of both worlds right now and it is so beautiful and hard to study since i can easily walk out to the beach and jump in the water
As far as the dorms go, Im sorry Im not familiar with them, but when I was in the ones at UCLA and UCI they didnt have air conditioning (as far as I can remember) I brought a fan with me…but with the window open it wasnt that bad. So dont stress.

seems like a lot of schools don’t have a/c…

ya i think its just an extra expense that they don’t feel the need for, I mean I don’t think you will be in a dorm that much anyways…just to sleep basically and you study in the library and stuff, plus the film building is literally open 24/7 so that’s cool.

My son lives in Henley and he has a/c in his dorm room…most of the new dorms do…maynot N or S Morlan but the rest should…don’t know about the apartments…
