Well, that’s okay, jcarroll. You had to do what felt right so good for you.

I guess I’m the only one in the world who hasn’t heard from Chapman. I don’t really feel like calling anymore.

Well, that’s okay, jcarroll. You had to do what felt right so good for you.

I guess I’m the only one in the world who hasn’t heard from Chapman. I don’t really feel like calling anymore.

one-way, my friend still hasn’t heard from Chapman yet either, he is a transfer going in for film-pro. It kinda sucks though, cause I want him to be my roommate and he still hasnt heard! God damnit!!! hahaha. O yea, and I went to Chapman yesterday, and am so happy with my decision, I honestly can say that I wouldn’t want to be at any other university in the world.

I asked you and you never responded, lol.

I do agree with you, however. I think Chapman University is the best university to study filmmaking, right now. Even though I haven’t heard from Chapman yet, the decision between USC and Chapman was killing me. Ultimately, I love Chapman so much that I want to go there for an MFA, so I think that’s saying a lot about Chapman. I’ll be studying Critical Studies at USC, and while it will give me some experience in production, I will be studying film as a whole. In my personal situation, I felt like USC was the better school for this degree.

I got my acceptance package today from Chapman. I filled out the enrollment deposit, just gotta mail it out. Get my doctor to do the medical record, tell the other college to withdraw my acceptance, wait for my financial aid…lots to do. It should be fun. It looks like myself, FilmFanatic and monkarrr are going to be the ones attending in the fall.

jcarroll-It’s too bad you won’t be working with us. But hey, the internship sounds great. Good luck in whatever you do. Maybe I’ll see you in Hollywood in 10 years for your movie premiere or something. Haha. Keep up the hard work. I’m sure it will all pay off in the end.

Speaking of a lot to do, there’s more than a lot for USC. Today, alone, I got two letters with enough to do for a week. There’s so much to do just to accept their offer!

Awesome!!! Linsper are you a transfer with junior standing?

It said 38 credits transferred on my program evaluation but it didn’t include my spring classes. I would assume so.

i have to pay my dorm deposit D: and i have no money ughhhh

I have to pay it too along with the enrollment deposit. $850 all going to Chapman out of my money…yay! I’m gonna be so poor after this.

JCarroll, I am sorry you didn’t get filmpro at Chapman. I know you must be very disappointed. A little mom advice… give yourself some time to grieve. I know your choice to work for the production company will work out great for you, but for now it stinks that you didn’t get to do something that you hoped so much to do.

I think we’d all like to hear about how your shoot went! Were you pleased with it? What did you learn that you would warn other new directors about?

Aww, i’m sorry JCarroll…Just remember…things always work out.
What do you guys think about the new producing major? I think its something I want to apply to as my first choice, would that be a weird move considering its new?

JCarroll: if it’s any consolation, I think you’ve got what it takes to make it, whether you got into Chapman or not! Passion, risk-taking, stick-to-it-iveness, etc. I keep hearing from people that you can go the academic route, or the street route, and the latter may make you actually scrappier. It’s kind of like an internship, right? Mucho good luck to you. And read “Outliers”, by Malcolm Gladwell. Easy read, and will help put your mind on the right path to success!!

So.
Heard from Ms. Shannon (something) Admissions Director at Chapman… said I should be hearing from Noelle (something) at Dodge College about “other” major options and opportunities for me at Dodge.

I am still smarting from the USC rejection…and the UCLA rejection…and the SCAD rejection…and the FSU rejection.

Is this a set up for another one or should I have my game face on again.

Greg, you most likely got into your second choice major. I was contacted by Noelle as well.

@Linsper ---- Can you prep me?

How’d it go? What’s she like? Does she ask a lot of questions? Was it a torture fest? Did you receive an answer then and there…on the spot? Will they want my spring grades? I got out with a 4.0. My only one ever. Every semester I have had like 1 B, in something ridiculous. I got my AA with a 3.78 GPA.

I asked Ms. Grogan if this conference call bode well for me and she sort of towed the company line “I am not sure”, “I don’t know”, “We’ll have to see.”

My second choice is Screenwriting: SO I AM SUPER STOKED.

Funny story quickly… I was filling out the app and wanted to do a video for the personal essay and apply for screenwriting. I get half way through the edit process on the video and read that I can only submit one or the other… the essay prompt for the screenwriting major or the video for production. I literally flipped a coin. (virtually any way. In my head… I am a student and have no real money to speak of.)

So, I sent the video for production. But I am a screenwriter at heart.

So we “might”, “maybe”, “possibly”, “God-willing”, be classmates. I am happy about that.

It should be a lot of fun. Can’t wait till monday.

Namaste. And Thanks.

Greg-First, I got an email from Noelle saying I was not accepted into my first choice major(film prod) but I got into my second choice major. I didn’t reply right away. The next day, she called my house leaving a message. I didn’t call her back. I just emailed them a response a few days later. They sent my acceptance package and I recieved it a week later.

To answer your questions, it was not torturous at all. They didn’t ask for my spring grades. I don’t know who Ms. Gogan is.

Interesting story! Thanks for sharing. Haha. If you got into your second choice major, then I’ll see you at orientation Aug. 25-30, IF you sign up and pay for it. Maybe you’ll be a classmate. It would be cool.

Is anyone else still waiting for a change on their webadvisor and letter in mail?

I am appplying as a film transfer and still have decision pending and no letter yet. They said it may be another week.

Thanks!

Indy

@ linsper23 — Accepted as Screenwriting Major. So excited I could spit nickles. See you at Orientation.

Thanks for the info.

Anyone, preferably transfers want to live in a house a block from Dodge and two blocks from main campus. Its a two bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1200 square feet, has a kitchen, backyard, and a garage. Rent per person would be around 800-900 dollars. This is actually about the same price you would be paying if you were to dorm. Let me know, thanks!!!

Congratz Greg! I told you. See ya there! =)
