Does anyone know how many kids are typically accepted to the film school, how many apply, and how many are placed on the wait list? Just wanted to know how realistic my chances for getting off of the list are.

Not sure of the number of kids accepted to the program but there are approximately 250 students in the freshman class. As for your chances to get in off the waitlist, last year my son was accepted off the waitlist as well as several other kids. Not sure this helps but good luck to you.

Thanks!!!!!!!!

yeah, i'm not going to NYU film (due to the high costs)

so u might get in! =)). gl.

is it harder to get off the waitlist in tisch?

Getting off waitlist in general is very hard. Only happens to maybe 5 or so kids, so you shouldn't count on it. But you still have a chance so keep on praying for NYU! :P

What are your stats santo? Cause I'm going to apply ED to Tisch Film next year, was just wondering. Did you submit a film, or one of the other choices?

Wow.. 250 people in the film program a year? That's a lot @___@

Btw, best of luck to you rszanto. I got in, so I look forward to meeting you as a future classmate =D

I REALLY want to get in. My only other option is a state school that interests me 0%, and would probably be the first step in a lifetime of regret and boredom.

I've read somewhere that you can go to Film either in your undergraduate years or graduate years. They never recommend both.

If you don't get in (which I hope doesn't happen), you could at least have a BA as a good fall back in case your graduate degree of film doesn't do you anything

Does anyone know if I will get terrible FA or no scholarships if I am taken off of the waitlists?

they take more than five..i know that much, but still not a lot

I don't think you can be rejected from the waitlist...since the majority of waitlist people never go anywhere, lol.

Good luck though man, but just think, if it doesn't work out, you can always apply again next year! Maybe take some film courses in your state college, get some experience, and you'll become a more competitive student next year. Only downside is that I hear it's harder for transfers to be accepted, but hey its possible!
