What are some good film schools? I know NYU has a very good reputation, but NYU doesn't really float my boat. Any other schools with a strong film department?

Syracuse, Florida State are ranked high in film. I think USC is known as having the best film school in the country.

USC as in University of South Carolina or Southern California? I'm assuming it's the latter.

Southern California, yes.

Also look at Emerson.

The University of Miami is quite good too.

BU, perhaps?

I just posted a similar question. We've looked at Savannah College of Art and Design, Florida State Univ, University of Miami, North Carolina School of the Arts. We're focusing on the southeast, but Chapman in LA is good along with USC and UCLA (the best). NYU is a top school as well. UNC Greensboro seems to have something going on. Univ Texas Austin seems to get some high rankings too. Please let me know what you find. thanks

Chapman University is in Orange County, about 45 minutes from L.A. But it's got a long-standing relationship with the film and tv industry in L.A. and just opened a $41-million film center with state-of-the-art studios and film-editing rooms and sound studios and viewing theaters and you name it. Check it out at http://ftv.chapman.edu/

This has been discussed in many threads..

- The University of Miami
- Florida State
- Tulane
