Filmmaking Camps?

I have moved this thread from the parents' forum in hopes of getting more replies.

My 8th grader has been making movies for years, and attends a local filmmaking camp in the summers. He is interested in branching out and attending a top quality residential camp this coming summer. I see several on internet search, but do not know which ones are particularly good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

USC and NYU; pricey but good
American University: also good, less industry focused
NYFilm academy: well regarded, in NYC- maybe too old a crowd and in the city for your youngster
Which ones are you considering?

Interlochen in Michigan was one. I looked at the USC and NYU sites, and think he is not ready for them. Cal Arts in Valencia in a year (appears you need to complete 9th grade).

My son loved The Prodigy Camp, run by TheFilmSchool. It is one week long, once a year, near Seattle. Admission is competitive. Applications due July 1st.
Consider Chapman University for summer film school

I just looked at SOCAPA housed at Occidental College. Any experience with this one?

I think my dd2 will be applying to the Chapman University Film Academy as well as the UT Austin advanced Film camp and Screenwriting camp.
