Hello!
I was accepted to Tufts for the class of 2020 and I love filmmaking. I was wondering what kind of community Tufts has for filmmaking (any clubs, classes, etc…) and what kind of presence it has on campus?
Thanks,
Alex

Or how good the screenwriting classes are, etc…?
Alex,
Congratulations on your acceptance!
Just last year, Tufts added a major in Film Studies and changed the name of its Communications and Media Studies Program (CMS) to Film and Media Studies (FMS). The old CMS program (which offered a minor in Film Studies) was quite popular - which resulted in its expansion.
The screenwriting classes are offered through the Drama Department, which is relatively small, but quite good.

Film making classes are offered through the Experimental College and are taught by people from the local industry.

The CMS/FMS program ties together the various disciplines and is a tight knit community that has strong alumni support and a great internship program. My daughter participated (focused more on communications/marketing), and is now working in advertising in NYC.
Best of luck!

Also check out tufts tv. Several web series have come from tufts each year. Jules and Monty is one - there are others as well but I don’t recall the names.
