My 8th grader has been making movies for years, and attends a local filmmaking camp in the summers. He is interested in branching out and attending a top quality residential camp this coming summer. I see several on internet search, but do not know which ones are particularly good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My daughter did Maine Media Workshops for photography several years ago - I believe they also offer a film session. It’s in a beautiful setting in coastal Maine, although students are housed in a repurposed motel. She learned a lot about photography but didn’t happen to click with her bunkmates; YMMV.

There are lot of people in the film majors section of cc that can help you. iPhone makes it hard to post a link, but go to “discussion home”, scroll down to bottom of page where it says “majors” and pick “film”.

The top summer programs would be the NYU Tisch summer session for HS students and the USC summer programs at the school of cinematic arts. D did adv film prod at US performing arts that was held at UCLA and was taught by faculty of Ucla film and their film grad students. Another prestigious one is Csssa (cal summer session for arts, taught at Cal Arts Valencia CA). There are a ton others but don’t know much about them. Interlochen, savannah college of art and design (I think), school of visual arts in NY.
Another program in NY called New York film academy is an for profit program that is not really attached to a university. On the Internet, I read that it’s not worth the money, but I knew someone who went and got a lot out of it (and he has a ton of equipment to start with…red camera, green screens, etc)

Thanks, YHYH. I have reposted my question on the film majors forum.
