Does Caltech filter the students by scores?
If yes, how low would be filtered?
I have a 700+ math but 5x0 on both cr and w.
my gpa is ok.
Will I be filtered?

No, Caltech is a small enough school that we don't need to filter. Plus, we have a good number of students whose first language was not English, and whose math scores are great, but reading and writing are on the level of yours.

Since you are caltech student, i want to ask one more thing.
As you see, my scores are not great.
my ecs are average.
I have some math comp prizes, but not great.

but I have a thing that is only hope for caltech and mit.
I'm actually writing a paper about math and physics, which is dealing with very original idea.
But I'm afraid that it's wrong, because that paper is 'too original' that only work cited book is Apostol's Calculus for just a reference for writing the proof. I'm almost sure it's right, but who knows...

So my question is...Can such a paper change the dicision? Even if it's wrong, will adcoms think that this kind of paper shows my ability in math or science...or just a crazy?

Sorry, I've never sat on the admissions committee, so I know the process, but not the way they view different things. If you wait a bit longer, Ben or someone should drop in and anser.

Have you ever thought about finding a Math prof at a local college or even community college to look over your work. He could help you out with it, make sure it's right, and then after the time you spend working together on it, he might be willing to write a recommendation for you.

Some applications are removed from the running early on (low grades, low SAT scores, etc.), but yours probably won't be. I think alleya's advice about asking a professor at a local college to take a look at your work is great. You'll have a better idea of where it fits in and whether it is worth sending.

Thanks, both Ben and alleya

Is there a gpa filter? like a set gpa below which students are cut off?

Nope. High schools are too different for that.

good thanks a lot ben
